Need to listen to "Crying" and "Only The Lonely." Orbison is the GOAT.

This was a monster hit back in 1964. Roy and Elvis were two of the biggest solo acts in the early sixties.

Before The Beatles were huge, they actually were one of the opening acts on a Roy Orbison tour in England. That's how BIG Roy was.

A reporter asked Elvis what is was like to have the best rock voice ? Elvis said i don't know ,ask Roy Orbison.

Fun little fact about Roy Orbison, he had very poor vision from the time he was a kid.
He accidentally left his glasses on the plane when he was touring with the Beatles. He was forced to wear his sunglasses on stage, & it became his signature look.

He said the sunglasses helped with the bright lights on stage.

Roy suffered so much heartache from the death of his wife in the motorcycle accident. He managed to keep his incredible spirit and kindness. Despite it all.

God bless him.

Roy was definitely one of the early pioneers of rock music.

Do his "Crying" or "Blue Bayou" to hear the operatic vibrato at it's very best....

They asked Elvis once about the singer he admired the most and he said Roy Orbison.

You probably both heard it in the movie Pretty Woman. This song is legendary. It was awesome when he was included in the Traveling Wilburys years later who even help him write a song of his own before he died that was a hit in the late 80s. An entire new audience got to appreciate his greatness.

This was used in the movie Pretty Woman with Richard Gère and Julia Roberts from 1990.

I highly recommend Roy's final (posthumous) hit, "You Got It", co-written by him, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne, his Traveling Wilburys band mates. Also, Roy is in the Traveling Wilburys video, "Handle With Care".

One day Roy and a friend of his who was a song writer, were sitting on the couch talking, when Roy's wife came walking in saying she was going to the store. Roy asked her if she needed any money, Roy's friend said " a pretty woman don't need any money." The 2 looked at each other and said that would make a great idea for a song, Roy thought about what he would think if he saw her walking down the street. when she came back she was the first person ever to hear this song.

Amazingly, Van Halen did a cover of "Oh, Pretty Woman" in 1982 and it was a major hit, peaking at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending two weeks at #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

One of the greatest voices in music history

1964. I was 16. I'm now 78 and this song brings back so many high school memories of the prettiest girl every boy wanted to date but was afraid to ask!
His other big hits from that era: "Only the Lonely," "Crying," and "Running Scared".
