In this video, I'll be demonstrating how to properly perform spray painting using spray cans, something I've been doing as an amateur until now, learning from past mistakes.

• Points to Note
① Weather
Do it on a day with low humidity
The painted surface will develop an orange peel texture
Do it during a time when there are few insects
Do it on a day with little wind to prevent dust from settling
② How to operate the spray can
(Practice)
③ Don't rush
Do it when you have plenty of time and can relax
Avoid twilight
To prevent insects from gathering
...With the above in mind, let's get started with painting!
Past Precautions
◯ After applying urethane clear coat: If it turns white, warm it with a hairdryer or heat gun (be careful not to overheat).
◯ Smooth out any roughness with a blending agent.
○ If you want the paint to last, the base coat is important.
① Remove the paint and prepare the surface: Remove the paint and rust with a grinder.
Use 400 grit sandpaper to remove the surface. The rust had penetrated deep inside. Remove the rust from the inside as well.
Then, hand-sand with 800 grit waterproof sandpaper to smooth the surface.
If you want to do it carefully, it's a good idea to apply rust inhibitor after removing the rust.
② Surface preparation: Paint does not adhere well to smooth surfaces. To create scratches and make it easier to apply paint, I used 800-grit sandpaper this time. I chose a finer grit because coarser sandpaper would leave scratches. I worked on the sides thoroughly. After a few years, the paint will start to peel from the corners, so it's important to work on the sides carefully. I washed it with water, wiped off the moisture, and removed any oil with silicone remover.
③ Primer Surfacer: I applied multiple coats of primer surfacer to make it easier for the paint to adhere. As it dries, the surface loses its shine, so I applied another coat on top.
⚠️ Do this when you have plenty of time. Don't rush if it takes longer than you expected.
⚠️ Avoid windy days, humid days, and seasons with many insects.
⚠️ If you don't flatten these bumps, the shape will remain.
~The next day
After confirming that the primer surfacer is completely dry, I used waterproof sandpaper. Sanding with 800 grit sandpaper
Rinse with water, remove excess water, and apply silicone remover.
④ Final Coating
⚠️ Paint the sides thoroughly. If this area is weak, it will peel off in a few years.
⚠️ Paint the corners thickly. When sanding or smoothing the surface with compound, the corners are easily sanded, so if you don't paint them thickly, the base coat will show through.
⚠️ Do not use work gloves as they will leave lint.
Blending Agent
○ If the surface is rough after the final coat, use a blending agent to smooth the paint (it dissolves or blends the paint...).
It can also be used to make spray dust from urethane clear coat less noticeable.
⑤ Urethane Clear Coating
Apply thinly at first.
Wait 10 minutes, then apply the second coat.
Don't forget the corners! (You might be surprised how often you miss spots.)
It's starting to get a bit windy. Painting outside is tricky when the wind picks up because dust sticks to the paint.
Be careful not to concentrate too much on one spot, as this can cause white air bubbles. If it's just a little, it will disappear if you leave it for a while.
Urethane clear coat comes out in very fine droplets, so it splatters more than regular spray cans.
It also dries slowly, so try not to touch it too much.
