This is why the Internet exists! Thanks so much for posting. We need to make sure to capture these stories before they are gone!

I stayed on the USS lexington as a cub scout i believe in 1994 or 1995.  It is a very fond memory as a kid.

I toured this carrier in 93 with my grandpa as my family's tour guide. He was captain of the boiler room back when it was still in service.

15 or so years ago when I was in the Boy Scouts, we had a "campout" on board this ship. We got to sleep in bunks on the ship very similar to the ones shown in this video and got access to areas that people don't normally get to see. It was an amazing experience

This channel has the best ship tours on YouTube in my opinion, the camera work is top notch. Love the multi hour tours.

The Lexington has a Great Self Tour with wonderful veterans answering questions. There’s also a really great Philly Cheesesteak place down the street for lunch!

In 1988 I shattered my leg on the Lady Lex.!! Forever in my heart and the screws, pins, and superglue forever in my leg!!

This old sailor is the genuine thing. When he told the story about not being allowed in certain places because of his mustering I laughed. I was in submarines and mustered as a(EF) if  I walked through the ops room I got horrible glares, even though I had go through to get to my pit.

Just toured Lady Lex today with my 90 year old uncle who was on the Lexington from 1958 to 1960.   Just too bad he was unable to hoof it to the five levels of lower deck, but it did bring back memories and stories.  So glad to have history relayed to me by someone who “was there”.

From TX USAF VietVet: My 2 sons & I did several sleep aboard weekend tours in the 90s when we were with BSA Troop 567 out of Katy, TX. (I was the camping coordinator.  They both attained Eagle Scout rank.) Bunked 2 decks below the hanger deck port side aft of the tower. Great experience. Got to visit many area closed to public. Time to re-visit. Many add-ons & improvements since then.

That man is a treasure!  I could just imagine him as my dad 🥰

In 1978 when USS LEXINGTON was based here in Pensacola Florida my Brother Lee Dunn and our cousin Pam graduated from Pensacola High School on the Flight Deck.

I was on the Lexington for carrier qualifications for our pilots in 1974. I was an A-6 Intruder plane captain in squadron VA-42,NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va. This was the second ship I worked on. The first was the USS Independence and the third was the USS Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Thanks for this clip man! The world is slowly running out of men like this one. What an encyclopedia this bloke is. Again thanks!

Good to preserve history, including veterans experiences on video

I landed upon and launched from the Lex.  Exciting.

RIP HERO
I appologies for bad englisch.

I was fortunate enough to serve onboard the Lexington for my First Class Midshipman cruise. She was serving as an aviation training carrier in those days, based out of Pensacola, FL. We trained carrier aviators qualifying for carrier landings and and launches. There were areas off limits, mostly old AA gun emplacements that were exposed to weather for years. The decks were getting thin and dangerous to walk on in those areas. I later completed college and was commissioned in the mid 80's.

Great video. I helped refurbed the USS NEW JERSEY and the USS MISSOURI and also helped mothball them. I also helped mothball the USS RANGER. I’ve worked on many ships out of the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. That was some really hard work.

My nextdoor neighbor growing up was the Foreriver shipyard where she was built, the USS Wasp, battleship Massachusetts and many other famous WW 2 ships, we used the foreriver bridge to jump off, swimming and fishing in those waters, which are sacred to me. God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸🙏
