Thank you. It amazes me how any of them who spent the night balancing on collapsible B survived at all, and didn't lose their legs to frost bite. Incredible.

Col. Gracie, his story is amazing, thank you for sharing his testimony. It is incredible that a select few (Gracie, Bride, Thayer, Lightoller) would survive going into the ocean and live to tell the tale. I just can't imagine the true horror of it all.

Oh my this was THE best episode so far. Absolutely incredible testimony

This would be interesting to watch. I'm familiar with Archibald Gracie's account through his book. Another contemporary resource about the Titanic diaster is a book by Jack Thayer. Both of these books are available on Amazon.

I'm surprised you didn't include his account of the ship's breakup (or lack thereof). One of the most notable things for me in his book was his firm insistence that the ship did not break in two, and his not so subtle insult directed at Jack Thayer in the process.

Thank you very much for this amazing video! I really love Col. Gacie's story, it is one of the most intersting ones in my opinion, I just love him and his story.

The classism of the whole of early 20th century society (definitely not singling out Col. Gracie as he's actually quite empathetic in some ways) - I'd almost describe it as casteism at this degree - is really quite stunning. To think that 20 boats would contain all the women of the Titanic is almost bizarre except when one realises those were the ones he would have seen. I wonder how much that might have affected him too.

The actor who played Archibold Gracie in Titanic also played lookout Fred Fleet in A Night To Remember.

These old interviews are so cool to listen too. Especially the first class interviews. A first class man technically shouldn’t have been on a life boat. He had to either bribed, snuck out or was shady about it.

I work with Great Camp Sagamore — former retreat of the family of Alfred Vanderbilt. We have a photo of a 1902 house party at the lodge that shows a visit by the Carters who would later be on the Titanic. There are some other folks in the photo who led interesting lives and some who were also with Alfred for the Lusitania tragedy. Happy to share the photo and research with you. Might make a good segment some time.

'You do not want the details of that, nor the horrors of it; that does not concern you.'
Sometimes, no further comment is appropriate; only silence.

The ship hadn't even sunk yet and he was already preparing a book about it

After watching the latest real time sinking animation, was it possible that Edith Evans got caught up in the “All passengers to the starboard side” order? Perhaps she got caught up in that before she was able to board lifeboat D
