Overconfidence can kill people.

KLM captain’s fault. Killed hundreds because he was in a rush. 😢

Such a heartbreaking story , the poor passengers touched the surface just to go back on the aircrafts to die :/
One girl had the boyfriend in this city and she was so lucky to survive this disaster ❤

Captain Jacob Veldhuyzen van Zanten’s decision to take off without having definitive clearance was an appalling failure of judgment. His assumption that the runway was clear, despite the uncertainty and ongoing communications, turned a preventable situation into a catastrophe. The scale of the tragedy makes his decision extraordinarily difficult to defend. A total douchebag, His arrogance and selfishness is the major factor in this terrible disaster.

The video recreation so accurate and great! But it would more accurately if you give the 747 classic analog cockpit instead 400 one.

RIP
To the passengers and crew of KLM Flight 4805 and the 335 passengers and crew of Pan Am Flight 1736 who were killed in the Tenerife airport disaster

This is really good! If I may ask, would it be possible to cover other accidents such as Iberia flight 610?

Terrible timing is sadly unavoidable sometimes. Human error will always be a factor in aviation accidents sadly. Combine the two and it’s a recipe for disaster. RIP to all who tragically lost their lives.

Why didnt atc cleared them to take off at runway 12 instead of taxing the runway?

@Purple_Pigeon_61 2 months ago

I know hindsight is 20/20, but I still think ATC should have been cancelling departures due to visibility at or near minimum.
The pressure was immense for everyone involved, and look what it cost.

KLM was told to go the full length and turn around. Pan AM was told to get off at C-3.

very good work..but I believe exit 1 was blocked by other aircraft....and the others open...that made the only active exit number 3 really number 4...which I still believe is what the controller meant.
