Adding to what others have already said, I must say that I adored the reading made by Professor Abby Hansen. I felt she did it like Thomas Mann would. Magnificent!

"The real Tadzio" was definitely not Wladyslaw Moes, but rather Polish-Austrian Adam von Henzel who was 15 in 1911 and looked much more like the character described in the book.

Would have worked far better if the camera had just been pointed at the screen and left alone. A great commentary, though.

From the perspective of the translator's art, a very good lecture.  Very much disagree on their take of the film--music was a stand in for the elusive word as moving image relies on the passage of time.

I can't find this translation on Amazon or anywhere else for that matter? Does anybody have a link, please?

they completely forgot the creepy old man on the boat, an important character that annonce what Achenbanch would become at the end...

What an annoying thing to watch. Couldn't' you have found a second camera? All this panning around ruins the presentation.
