Mr. X walked so Nemesis could sprint and super slam you out of nowhere

Nobody complained about the fixed camera angles and tank controls when the original trilogy was new. The only people who complain about them are people who became used to more technologically advanced games years later. In the late 1990's those were completely acceptable game design elements, because they complemented eachother, contributed to the horror movie style, and enabled more realistic level design than would be possible without them.

I loved the fixed camera and tank controls. It added to the suspense. You get better with practice till you never notice it.

What capcom needs to do is give us a disc collection of the original Resident Evil trilogy!

I'm 52 and still play resident evil 1 2 3 all the time wish they would remake them in the same way with up to date graphics love the fixed camera angles

I just love this trilogy. It makes me feel all warm inside.

Minor correction:
William Birkin created G
James Marcus and Ozwell Spencer(partially) created T

An HD Collection like how Tomb Raider came out would be the sweetest thing Capcom can do.

The reason why the US release of Resident Evil was harder was because of the rental market. They wanted to make sure you had to rent Resident Evil at least 3 times to beat it. People forget the rental market was a battleground for games, same with arcades. Publishers and arcade manufacturers would actually sent pamphlets and videos to rental store owners and arcades telling them how much money they could make off the new and hottest games.

12:00 that transition still gives me chills just like the first time, it's so good, sound design can go a long way

"Wow what a mansion!" ✌️

These games are still alive and well on PC. Originally you could play the less legitimate Sourcenext versions but recently, the trilogy got released legitimately on GOG. The modding scene is still popping off with plenty of mods that overhaul the entire story, a superb randomizer mod, and just this month a door and cutscene skip mod was released for RE2. I still frequently play them.

and re3 nemesis - when I was a kid, between 1999- 2002, was my absolute favorite because of all the alternate options, variety of paths, maps, weapons, ememies, endings even. I was truly disappointed with re3 remake being what it was.

I still love the original trilogy the best and still go back to the PS1 just for these games because it was the genre that got me into 3D gaming back when 3D was starting.

OG resident evil video? Subscribed

Great video! Just played through the classics and man they aged like fine wine. 🍷

Resident evil 2 had a massive graphical upgrade from the first one it's crazy. I've played all the classics recently and now I've beaten re1 through 6 including the remakes

Thank you for making this video.
Fixed camera angle & Tank control was Art!
When people say they loved these elements It's not purely about nostalgia or technical limitations of the time, rather it was a creative design that they came up with. It was a combination of professional cinematic composition with performing manual challenges. You physically had to learn to be good at pressing buttons, having accurate timing and making decisions fast. shoulder camera also reduced the immersion an well as the element of surprise because with shoulder camera there would be no jump scares because you constantly have 160° view of everything in front of the character, it's like that friend who spoiling a movie for you 5 seconds a head constantly, ruining the excitement that your brain develops overtime. "I will find out what's going on here" or "what could be waiting for me" just like the feeling you have watching a horror movie times 10x because you are IN IT ,your character is not you yourself, it's the actor of the movie you are watching expect you playing him, it's hard to put it in words, it's like reading a novel, fall in love with the world and the character you reading about, when these elements are taken out, when camera follows you on your shoulder all the time, you no longer feel overpowered by the environment that are supposed to scare you/punish you/give you goosebumps, the environment becomes your play ground therefore it's not a horror game anymore, this is what RE4 fans never understood, it's crazy that when i was in middle school me and my brother played RE 1,2,3 while my best friend skipped those and decided he would play newly released RE4 and when he talked about it for me it piss me off because his imagine of RE was 180° different than me and my other friends who grew up with OG RE games, he described a totally different atmosphere, he never understood the soul of OG Resident Evil games, he would talk about "Resident Evil" being such a badass action game, that he would do jump around doing acrobatics while kicking the asses of angry spanish villagers, witches & golums and having cooky dialogues with other commandos, when he talked about his Leon for me it felt like Neo from the mateix movies. totally different character as the original Leon. the Capcom decision to come up with shoulder camera definitely ruined the legacy of their best series ,even though newer fans came to enjoy the newer products they simply missed the opportunity to last forever, now with every other horror game being this weird formula of RE4 nobody outside the OG fans will even care about this series in a few years while if they continued the original ways and perhaps just added more complex elements to it it would have become a timeless series ,like a timeless novel.

Fixed camera angles were not used just because of wanting to scare the player. That is a secondary benefit of fixed camera angles. It was actually done that way because the backgrounds are pre-rendered images with an invisible 3d space layered over them for collision detection, and depth. The hardware of that era could not handle enough polygons on screen to render every detail in real time without a serious downgrade in graphical fidelity, or framerate. That's one reason why those Resident Evil games looked better than any of their competitors during that time. It allowed greater detail in the backgrounds, and higher polygon counts with their character models.

Aaaaaah the music at 21.40 RE3 Epilog music always bring tiers to my eye. I aways put it and many remixes (Resident Evil 3 - Unfortunate Event (Marach cover)) on when I'm sad for losses through the years, especially now during my sudden divorce in March and lost everything. No joke, I hear the song daily and even earlier today, before watching this, soooo yeeeah. 😮‍💨😓💔
This brings some hope in this dark times as it has since I got it 1999.  The RE series on PS1 are without a doubt, the games I've played the most on PS1 and RE2 is my favorite, 3 and 1. Got RE1 last, so have a deeper bond to the others, but love them all dearly. This is my first video from you, keep it up and one "sub" and "big like" from Denmark.         PS. Claire was my first somewhat media crush when thinking about it. 🤔😍 Jill in RE3 right behind.      PPS. Got some of the airsoft guns from the RE games and Jill's RE3 M9 Kendo special in full metal has one of the WIP spots on my gun wall. LOVE IT
