Great presentation. In a tiny way we've made a difference. 74 year old 2,400SF home on cold climate lake Erie. House required significant repairs and upgrades as it hasn't been attended to for 40 years. Upgraded electric service to 200AMPS. While replacing the siding better insulation and air sealing was done. 45 year old asphalt shingles replaced with adhesive wrap then moisture shedding layer that also provides a thermal break finished with 50+ year metal roof. Proper insulation of attics and crawl space basement. Heat pump HVAC hot water heater and dryer. Small 3.4kw solar 2 used EVs. Electric grill tools yard tools. Induction stove and inverter refrigerator. Entire process happened over 10+ years. Appliances upgraded after the old ones failed. Gas line removed from the house. Three years in after 100% electrification and we're satisfied with the results. Went from 3 energy suppliers to one. $1,600 previously spent on gas and $2,500 on gasoline eliminated. Replaced $3.50/gal gasoline with 16¢ kwh electric. All equipment american made. Contractors all local. Home is quieter cleaner and the temp remains very steady. This months electric $46 previous month $97. In cold January to early March bill can be $350-400/month based on weather. EVs quiet quick sticks to the road and super convenient. That's a retrofit model. For new construction it's a complete no brainer to do these things and more upfront. Energy prices will continue to rise as there is no Fossil Fuels Fairy refilling the holes! We can show that we've eliminated many tons of CO2 emissions so far. Good luck to anyone starting on the journey. We recognize that many cannot afford to do this in the short haul. We also know there's millions of people like us that can! Many of our friends acknowledge that climate change is happening and in spite of having the means they do little to nothing. An emotional driver for us is our 3 great granddaughters. Should they live to our age it will be 2090s. What will be left of the biosphere source of all life for them and their great grandchildren?

It’s exciting to someone who once rode his bike behind dirty diesel city buses to college to see that electric buses are phasing in.  And it will be great to see more 18 wheelers change to electric semis.  I am already enjoying the very low maintenance requirements of my electric vehicle compared to a gasoline powered car! Thanks to Stanford and to Core Lecturer Dr. Gragg for this clear presentation on the steps being taken and those to follow to get to the clean, electric economy! 😊 And good to know that kitchen staff have a better work environment with induction stoves!  😊

It would be great if you clip that first section on the benefits of electrification into a short (30 secs to about 1 minute 30).

When we think about obstacles to that must be overcome i think about electrification in the early days of electricity. It too. 60 years or more after the beginning of electricity to reach 99% of all areas. There's lots of low hanging fruit today when it comes to electrification. People can get hung up on want can't be done while ignoring the many things that can be done.

The chef in our restaurant loves induction. We also do - it was in our house when we moved in.

Unfortunately, for some slides the screen has no contrast and it is difficult to read. Otherwise, great presentation, very informative.

Graph # 23 (at about 24:25) showing growth of electricity use in US (about 12x) is good, and would be even better if you superimposed the growths of:  population, GDP,  total energy use, and total carbon emissions.  The electrification trajectory would pop out!

Massless energy, i.e. gravity, air pressure, light, or natural/residual heat is already an energy flow, so using this type of energy chain will provide the greatest values.  

Further, the regenerative grid concept calls for system integration, co-location, cogeneration, and storage at far higher levels than currently envisioned.   We live in revolutionary times, so be sure to cash in, while avoiding cash drains.

'Proximity to chargers' may indicate that batteries should be used to accumulate energy for nightly recharging.  Rolling out chargers in parking lots or buildings might be inconvenient, and more costly than deployment of sodium, sand, or iron batteries, at home or in hubs.

electrons will never replace oil and oil is one thing while we get the 6000 different products, increase ev's or even do a one for one replacement for ice cars would mean an increase in oil consumption.
Renewables are making things worse than degrowth because renewables are 10% of new GDP per annum.
