This was a wonderful video.  The telescope broke. You figured out how to fix it and took us along on the journey. Excellent from start to finish.

Thanks for the kind words about the book! It's much appreciated. Your pushback about color cameras is fair; clearly mono cameras are preferred for solar, but if a color camera is all you have then it would help to explain how to get the most out of it. Good suggestion for a second edition!

You must be such cool dad to have. Never change.

Superb video, true to life and entertaining while informative!🎉

nice work. this looks like a good option for getting in to solar without blowing all my money.

That could have been me! Love your attitude

Thank you,  love your videos ❤ !

Daystar should watch your video and then think, "Hey, maybe instead of having that plug right on the circuit board, we should move it remote so accidental pulling of the cord will not cause circuit board damage and instead will be simpler to repair."

Still, for the price, that is a pretty incredible solar telescope.

Love a good manual!

such an entertaining video😂

Astronomy + A je to (but much better results than them)

btw those torx heads looked brutalized 😂

Appreciate this... I never knew about the daystar until I watched your video. I was looking at the 60mm lunt but this really looks like a good contender, especially at around $1000 for the standard set up.

I have a few questions:
1) which camera did you use to capture the full disc side by side images shown in your video? Did you need a focal reducer?
2) I have a prism binoviewer with 32mm plossls that I would like to use with it. Do you know if it will reach focus on this telescope with its helical focuser, or will I need to use a 2x extender like I do with my dob?
3) for imaging you need to use a UVIR cut filter with the camera, but not for visual, correct?
4) it's not a double stacked etalon filter but it is advertised as having performance like a double stacked unit. Can you explain how this works in a subsequent episode and perhaps go into some more technical aspects. I'm a complete newb with solar and have a lot to learn.

I'm really glad to see you're enjoying your new solar telescope! Love your videos and down to earth style and look forward to seeing more content on this new telescope... Already subbed!

Double stack for $1000??? Woa

Would a magnetic usb cable have prevented the damage Evel?Glad yous got it going again 🌞

I will think about this. I bought and resold a Lunt 40mm scope for the underwhelming views. Maybe it was the aperture of only 40mm... And it was single stacked, which makes sense for small apertures
