They were one of the pioneers of synth pop...a lot of music at the time sounded similar because they were all using the same type of synthesiser.  If you like it check out Love Action also by Human League, Visage (Fade to Grey), Heaven 17 (Temptation), Gary Numan (Cars), Ultravox (Vienna), Yazoo (Only You), Depeche Mode (I Just Can't Get Enough), Freez (IOU)...I could go on...

The following year ABC released the album The Lexicon of Love which put sophisticated production into synth music and delivered possibly three of the best songs from 1982 - The Look Of Love, Poison Arrow, and All Of My Heart.

“This sounds like the 80s” ... 1981. A lot of the 80s wanted to sound like this.

still up there as one of the greatest intros in pop music

The lead singer Phil Oakey hated this song and didn't want it released as a single, and yet it became one of their biggest and best known hits!

How can you not like Human 🥲

Oh wow, Shakespear's Sister STAY is AMAZING!!!!

This feels like "my" 80s. So much of what I see about 80s nostalgia (huge frizzy hair, bright pink workout outfits, etc.) feels less like the 80s that I experienced than this does. Thanks for reacting to it.

The entire Dare album is stellar from start to finish. The band, along with their producer Martin Rushent, crafted an album that stands the test of time with analog synths and sequencers of the day. I will be seeing them in Nashville at the Opry House in a few weeks. They have not toured the US in a while and looking forward to seeing them again. Give the tracks Sound of the Crowd, Do or Die,  Seconds, and The Things That Dreams Are Made Of a spin.

"DRAMA!" by Erasure will blow you mind. Lyrically, it's a dramatic extravaganza. The best synth-pop band of the 80's and beyond.

The synth hook in the intro was actually inspired by the guitar intro of ABBA’s Eagle. Obviously very different, but inspired.

Graet 80s song.  So good.  Heavy rotation on MTV

@jacobreacts - If you enjoyed this tune, you should consider reacting to "Keep Feeling Fascination," also an early Duran Duran, and  Depeche Mode should figure prominently in your future reviews!

This is one of those 1980s anthems.  It was played to death on the radio.  I grew to hate it because I heard it all the time and it is a little repetitive.  Then in the 21st century I heard it again and it was so nice to hear and I added it to my regular playlist.

The 80s had some of THE best music.

This was a big hit when it came out, a quintessential 80s song for sure!

This was the last track written and recorded for the album "Dare", and literally the last track on the album. The Human League weren't fully on board with it being a new single, as they had already released a handful before, but obviously were happy with it being released. Dare was the 3rd album, the first 2 albums were with a different line-up, Phil Oakey (the singer) soldiered on with a couple of new members, and decided they needed female dancers/back up vocalists for a live tour...Susanne and Joanne ended up staying in the band, and the band is now the core 3 of Phil, Susanne and  Joanne. They still tour today, and I have seen them a handful of times here in Australia (they were quite big here in the 80's), and they always sell out tours when they come down under. Dare spawned The Sound of The Crowd, Love Action, Open Your Heart and of course Don't You Want Me.  The "split" from the first line up spawned another 80's iconic band - Heaven 17 who also are still active today.

Omg, thanks for the accidental reminder...   I LOVE song but I forget about it for years at a time.   I haven't seen your Human reaction, but got the vibe lol.   I quite enjoy that one, but hey!  We've all our own thing lol.

Made me grin to bop and hear it and to see you get to know and enjoy.   I've thankfully the handy extension to my browser so I could put this on some of my Spotify playlists (I'm an over-sorter) rather than it being another 5 years or so before I remember it exists again haha.   It is so very the 80s.

Human League - Love Action. Things that dreams are made of. Sound of the Crowd 1981 is far ahead of its time

Best exhibition of male eyeliner and lip from the 80's, hands down (sorry Boy George, yours was good too, but...) Man the dude could pull off that makeup!
