While the dance market performance was sluggish in the first half of the year, all indicators for ballet rose, including a 36.2% increase in ticket sales. With many large-scale performances scheduled for August, attention is focused on the two ballerinos making their simultaneous debut as Prince Siegfried in the Universal Ballet’s production of 'Swan Lake' (August 14–23 at the Seoul Arts Center Opera Theater). Jeon Min-cheol (22), who joined the Mariinsky Ballet as a first soloist last year and is currently performing brilliantly, and Yu Ju-hyeong (23), who was selected as a principal dancer immediately upon joining the Universal Ballet this year. These two, who have risen to prominence as the prodigies of K-ballet in the overseas and domestic markets respectively, are classmates from the Class of '22 of the Korea National University of Arts Dance School.
