I find the "Strictly in a friend sense!" thing so funny because it means Lucas was so worried he had to talk in a text box despite you are playing as him

Congratulations on reaching 50k subscribers right alongside Mother 3's 50,000th year anniversary! Talk about perfect timing!

If you subscribe to Mother 3 taking place decades or centuries in the future, it makes the moles being that far behind schedule much funnier

1:00 out of context “I’m better known as a sonic freak, but I am also a mother freak” is genuinely an insane sentence

Katsuman, the shop mentioned here as the staff's favorite tonkatsu spot sadly closed  sometime during/after covid. I was lucky enough to visit it in 2019, and it was seriously good! It must've been a local favorite, because I was the only foreigner in there, while there were atleast 3 parties of salarymen getting lunch after work with their boss. The building is gone now, they build a new apartment complex there.

I love you guys... strictly in a friend sense!

6:16 This isn't a conclusive answer, but the "smells something else-ish!" description sounds like, from my experience with amateur programming, a fallback option included in the game files to prevent a potential soft lock. Stuff like that gets included so that just in case the normal system fails due to some unforeseen circumstances, the program doesn't soft lock due to the game encountering a situation where it doesn't have an available option to take. So it would be included in the files as an option for the game to select just in case either due to error, oversight, or modding, a given enemy doesn't display or even have a properly defined smell category and thus can't call up any of the other ones.

6:56 Another one that's pretty fun is during chapter 2, when you have 2 rockin' ghosts in battle, sometimes they'll start fighting each other and do damage

8:30 thank you for acknowledging that I work very hard

6:50 There's a least one more. If a Minor Robot's battery dies when there's a Battery Man in the fight, the Battery Man will jump inside it, sacrificing itself to heal the Minor Robot and recharge its batteries. I'm pretty sure that Blue Balding Eagles can also rest on Tender Loving Trees to recover HP, although I'm not sure if this works with their chapter 1 variants.

Happy Mother 3 day to all who celebrate

17:30 this interaction is actually still fully functional if you hack the game to place an npc with this text’s associated unused script in the room. your map is even properly marked which is never seen otherwise

21:25 - even I, a fellow bona fide MOTHER freak,  certainly learned at least one new thing, so I suspect any of y'all who say otherwise are lying 🤨 unless Itoi himself is watching

Also I didn't knew there's 2 extra enemies in Mother 3
The "Nice Poser" and "Zombidillo"
That's because it's in the Chimera Lab after getting Salsa
You probably would never even go back to Chimera Lab, like me
That was until a video about every ENEMY
That's how I learned these even existed

13:50 most shop keepers who have unique dialogue when you talk to them behind their counter scold you for talking to them on the wrong side, so I really like this.  She’s just chill like that.

Also another enemy interaction is Minor Robot and Battery Man
If Minor Robots battery is broken
Battery Man will replace and heal it

21:00 That's strange, I've been playing the original Japanese translation of this game recently, and all of the Mr. Saturns seem to be speaking with green bullet points.

Now we need Rare and Obscure Dialogue in Earthbound Beginnings

Lmao I laughed at using the dung in the final battle. I'm a pretty big Mother 3-head too and there's still a lot of stuff I learned for the first time in this video. Excellent as always!

The Whole Lotta Holes 2006 thing is crazy. I almost want to assume it was placeholder text the devs forgot to remove since it's so obscure to trigger it lol. But it IS really funny to assume that they started digging it at the release of the game, the apocalypse happened, and now they're still working on it. Almost an ode to the N64 cancellation

This might be the greatest refresh pull I'll ever get
