Muscles of the tongue (anatomy)

Sam Webster

Can we find the extrinsic and intrinsic muscles of the tongue on a bunch of anatomy models? Maybe. Also, cranial nerves and blood vessels.

Be warned, there's a fair bit of tongue gymnastics in this video.

9:37 So did the frogs/toads turn out to have a very high number of transverse muscle fibers? Lot of elastin? Maybe a very elastic muscle hidden within a longitudinal transverse muscle sling, that sits recoiled at tonic rest, then released, springs forward direction-guided by the transverse sling? I'm trying to visualise the fiber arrangement. Can you point me to the paper? I'm curious. God I'd love my own SEM
