Wolfman Jack was real. He's among the most famous disc jockeys of the 20th century. He played the DJ in this film.

Milner called Falfa stupid because Falfa ran the red light. It showed he was reckless.

The film budget was $777,000 and the box office was $140 Million!🤯 It is one of the most profitable films of all time reaching $200 Million after home video revenue.

Ron’s girlfriend was Cindy Williams , after this she went on to star in the tv series “Laverne and Shirley “which was a spinoff from Ron’s show “Happy Days “.

A lot of first-time viewers don't realize that John Milner is in his 20s and feeling the pressure (and the sadness) of trying to stay 17 forever. Thanks Jen for reacting to one of my most favorite movies ever!

American Graffiti had a huge impact on popular culture.  Radio stations began having oldies nights, bands began appearing playing older Rock 'n' Roll, high schools re-introduced sock hops, and cruising up and down the main streets became popular again.
It was the first movie that used Rock for the complete soundtrack, something that has become commonplace.  If you listen to the songs, each one reflects what is happening in the storyline.  George Lucas considered the music to be another leading character in itself, just as important to the story as the rest of the cast.

There is a sequal to this one, "More American Grafitti" from 1979 that tells what happened to the characters in the years that followed.

Suzanne Somers despite having only a few seconds of screen time created a cinematic moment never to be forgotten!

🎵 1 2 3 o'clock 4 o'clock rock! 🎵

"Flathead" in this case usually refers to an early Ford V8 .  Technically a "flathead" is any engine with valves in the block instead of the head.  I forgot Wolfman was in this.

I miss watching this with my old man. He would blurt out what each and every car was. He once told me all the different cars he ever owned. 😊 RIP da😢

This film recalls George Lucas’ teenage years cruising Modesto, California. Most scenes were shot in Petaluma, where every year they have a parade of vintage cars cruising the boulevard, often with cars from this film, as well as some of the actors!

Wolfman Jack was a real disc jockey active from 1960-95.  Just the voice alone brings back memories.

7:53 The band performing here was a real life band called Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids. They also appeared in an early episode of the television series Happy Days (also starring Ron Howard), and recorded a few albums that charted. They later also appeared in Francis Ford Coppola’s APOCALYPSE NOW (1979) as the band that accompanied the Playboy Bunnies in the USO show, and their recording of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Suzie Q” was used on the soundtrack. Ironically, APOCALYPSE NOW was originally going to be directed by George Lucas, but once he got deeply involved with creating STAR WARS (1977), he decided to let Coppola take over the project.

Jen, the license plate on Milner’s car is THX 138 which is a reference to George Lucas’ previous film, THX-1138.

That "kid" is Mickenzi Phillips. Daughter of John Phiilips of the Mamas and the Papas. And a star on the hit 1970's sitcom One Day at a Time along with Valerie Bertinelli.

One of George Lucas' best non Star Wars related work. It makes you nostalgic for the 1960's, and featured early roles for Richard Dreyfuss, Harrison Ford and Makenzie Philips.

The speeder Anakin steals in Attack Of The Clones is reminiscent of Milner’s car.

The tagline of this film is ”Where Were You in ‘62?”

The guy who plays "Toad" was the accountant on the team in the movie The Untouchables.
