19 years as an ER nurse. I have never had to code someone because of caffeine. I call BS on this one.

I've been an EMT for years now. Only ER visit I remember is very hot coffee accidentally getting poured on a toddler. Mainly 1st degree burns.

Everything has Pro and Cons. Too much of anything is bad. The simple answer is moderation. Don’t let it control you, but use it for good intentions

My fiancé developed a nasty heroin habit from taking oxy’s and Vicodin for a back injury. He was on them for years and his doctor gave him a 3 day taper. It didn’t go well. He just celebrated 7 yrs clean praise the Lord. Now I’m trying to get him to work out with me 😁

You gentlemen are national treasures! Thank you because your boys been going to heavy on the caffeine lately(plus early morning workouts/ work etc) and I’ve been feeling a lot of anxiety and fatigue. This episode hits!

Drinking black coffee on the way to the gym is my motivation

Caller 2, Debra: you really are crushing it lady! Amazing recomp!! I'm right there with you with struggling to stop weighing in. I have been able to embrace the reverse diet. Lifting heavy and novel stimulus is what's helping my appetite go up.
It's so hard to break this conditioning, you're not alone and you are rocking it!

Context is important. I’ve never had a healthy body weight, non smoking, non drug user patient come into the ER and code from caffeine.

I love everything coffee! A while back I decided to start cutting back till I was only doing decaf for months. Had 1 coffee that wasn't and man was I jittery! Ever since I have mostly stuck to half caff knowing this wasn't a good thing. My issue is that I love so many kinds of coffee and honestly caffeinated tastes better! 😂 I have a professional espresso setup and also roast my own beans. Decaf beans too!😊 I limit myself to 2 coffee drinks per day (normal size, not xl). And if I want something else that has caffeine like a tea or other beverage I plan it in my day just like I do with my macros. This way I won't get too much. ❤

I love my coffee and I’m not giving it up 2 to 3 cups a day. I could drink a cup and then go fall asleep. Love the taste and smell!

Watching this as I sip my morning coffee. We shall see if I’m doing it wrong! Either way, I’m happy to see a video this morning. I’ve learned so much from you guys, keep it up! ❤

Eta: well damn, guess I’m one of the 85%. I’m going to try cutting down. 😢

Eta#2: I’m almost 2 years clean from opiates and working out is the only way I can force my body to make its own happy chemicals. Thanks for touching on that guys. It helps with the stigma attached to being an “addict”

They said they needed to work on endurance. That is why I incorporate 20 to 30 miles of weekly running in addition to three full-body workouts.

I've been watching for about a month. I tuned in for motivation and have been lifting again so thank you. I knew when I click on this episode that it's time to cycle off caffeine. I feel it's time to quit when I drink coffee and I'm more tired afterwards. I'm not sure why I start drinking it again after quitting. I started drinking coffee when I was 14 (at Caffe Pergolesi - Bookshop Santa Cruz locale, pre 1989) and love the smell of it and the morning ritual of sipping that first cup. It'll take a couple weeks to wean off with decaf, incrementally switch and I feel no ill effects of no caffeine. Shifting gears, you guys dropped santa cruz and alice's. I grew up in Santa Cruz (West Cliff Drive) and have ridden to Alice's on many weekend rides. Good times! ;)

I like this video. At one point I was so low on energy, my caffeine intake was over 3,000mg 4-6 days a week. On top of that, stress from my job and family, I started getting heart palpitations. At night it would almost feel like my heart was going to stop. It scared me. I stopped drinking energy drinks and taking pills, but I kept the black coffee. Eventually I stopped drinking the coffee for a while. Then I finally walked out of my horrible job I had for 5.5 years. I took two months off and felt so much better, even with gaining 10lbs.
In late January I started a new job and a health journey. February I screwed up my hormones with my diet. It was baaad. I lived in nothing but baggy pants and sweatshirts so I couldn’t see myself and didn’t go near a scale. My poor husband didn’t know what to do to help me. I just had to work on regulating everything again after doing the damage. Finally my mind and body started feeling better. I lost 25lbs and was stuck. I kept working out and watching my diet, but mainly focused on maintaining. Now it’s time to go harder again and I finally broke below 130. I’m wondering if my current caffeine intake is holding me back. I ended up feeling like I was having a possible heart attack in May. I don’t like to jump to conclusions, but everything I was reading basically said “check with a Dr”. So I had an ekg done and I started crying. It showed no damage to my heart whatsoever. I could’ve sworn I messed up my heart with bad choices and habits. But it was clear.
I drink coffee on and off through the day, not even for energy, I love the taste and it doesn’t make me hungry like water does. As far as sleep, I don’t FEEL like I suffer at all. I fall asleep in minutes and get up at a regular schedule. But maybe it could be better and don’t know what I’m missing out on. I’m just going to have to limit myself to 1-2 cups per day in the morning and see how it goes.
