The truth on suicides due to affirming care should be spoken more.

@rvastrik 4 weeks ago

How and why should the affirmative approach be considered therapy at all? What does it cure and how does it cure someone? The aim of any type of psychotherapy is to improve a person's adaptation to reality. In my opinion, the affirmative approach is the consolidation of a person's psychological sources of tension. After all, with such an approach, a person becomes increasingly psychologically disturbed. And when it comes to gender issues, both the mind and the body are damaged more and more.

At 42" Ian looks shocked at the memory of trainee counsellors admitting that they would not want to work with people with ' conservative' views but would be happy working with convicted paedophiles...As he says, these activists are hateful and should be exposed for this. I hope he gets open support from good people in his professional world.

It gives me the rage when clearly very unwell people who identify as trans is explained away as due to minority stress

Affirming care to me is the complete abolishment of care.

Irish people who have lived through previous homophobic church and state sanctioned dogmas now recognise woke homophobia.

We are living through very dark times. Those of us that are sane must push back on all this madness.

Great convo, as usual. Thanks...Surprised this channel doesn't get more traction, but there is so much quality content that it will eventually get there. Keep up the good work, Stella.

So refreshing to listen to you, Stella, and now Ian. It is a "world in flux" that we live in these days, and increasingly frightening to those of us, who, like me, are grandparents watching our grandchildren trying to make sense of life around them. My granddaughter, 29, is soon finished with a degree ... in psychology, womens' studies, indigenous studies ... I love her dearly (she is living with us the past 5 years), but know our ideologies are so different, so I try to not engage her in these areas, as I know such discussions would result in hurt feelings and impasses. She has tended to "catastrophize" life, climate, her future ... but I always try to steer towards a sense of hope, and trust that the Universe" has people being prepared to make this hope possible.

There is an end game: deconstruct until ‘the centre cannot hold’ and all that’s left is anarchy, chaos and a terrified-to-speak populus. The ‘new self-righteous oligarchy’ can then step into the resulting power vacuum with a totalizing system enforced the name of ‘justice’. See Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc.

Another example - An Australian study(Zwickl et al 2021- Factors associated with suicide attempts among Australian transgender adults. ) reporting on the findings of a cross-sectional survey of transgender adults concluded that barriers to gender affirming treatment was associated with increased suicidality in TG people. This study was included in a letter to Parliament. However, this conclusion was not supported by the study’s findings and no association between barriers to gender affirming care and suicidality had been found. This resulted in the paper needing substantial correction and this previous conclusion was removed.
I doubt the correction was also sent to Parliament.

I hope many people and especially therapists watch this!

Well done Ian for speaking out. We all know what happened to the red guard. They don’t appear to have read history. I’m a huge Jung fan too and create mandalas often. I think they have inverted his concept of the hieros gamos and externalised the core imbalance onto the body. Thanks as always Stella.

An example of how they distort the affirming care and allowing young to access medicine to trans - A 2023 study in the UK (Lavender et al (2023- Impact of Hormone Treatment on Psychosocial Functioning in Gender diverse Young People)) of 38 children who received PB followed by cross sex hormones who were assessed with a range of self and caregiver reported psychological measures undertaken at 1 year post PB and also 1 year post CSH showed the following.
In the abstract that: “suicidality and self-harm also showed a general decrease”
HOWEVER, in the actual study, which is behind a paywall so the general public or busy politicians etc can see it. It is revealed that. that there had been 109 eligible participants of which only 38 were included in the study, and out of these only 11 had completed the two suicidality and self harm question. The authors of the study noted that due to such a low completion rate, that a statistical significance could not be determined and no official conclusion regarding the impact of PB followed by CSH on suicidality/self harm could be made

The main focus in social work currently is the concept of 'social justice'...seeing yourself not as counselor/healer but as 'activists' who know better and pushing 'agendas/worldviews'...here in the USA our school district implemented a policy where a minor could sign a document requesting a name change without the parents knowledge, this rather than supporting the family in facing whatever may be happening to their child, assuming bigotry and abuse instead....

It's very sad to hear how students reacted to Ian in an underhand and vicious way, and on social media. It's a cult. It's bullying tactics. Deplorable treatment by the vocal minority.

One of the standout points is how Ian’s psychology students, schooled in Post Modernism, would have little trouble in treating a child s@x offender in an unbiased manner but would struggle with those with conservative values. Be wary of this new crop of medical ‘professionals’.
