The title made me think it was gonna be the guy with the highest defense ten times

All of this high defense means nothing in the face of a drop of water or a blade of grass.

I'm a simple man; I see Golem in the thumbnail, I click like.

To really drive home just how frustrating Tangela's availability is in Gen 1, it's the last Grass type you get access to in Red/Blue, as you need to be able to use Surf outside of battle to get it. (Yellow moves it to the Safari Zone, so it instead ties with the Exeggcute line for this dishonor, and Tangela is a lot rarer in the Yellow Safari Zone than Exeggcute is.) By that point in the game, the only remaining major battles where it really could contribute much are Giovanni (though his two Nidos, and the Persian he has in Yellow, only take neutral damage from Grass; on the plus side, his only super effective damage against Tangela in Red/Blue is Poison Sting from the Nidos, and his Yellow team has no moves that are super effective on Tangela) and (arguably) Lorelei. (The Lorelei matchup is a bit risky; 4 of her 5 Pokémon are weak to Grass, but 3 of those 4 Pokémon, and her one Pokémon that isn't weak to Grass, have Ice moves.) It also doesn't help that, for Tangela to have a Grass move that's worth using for the point in the game you get it, you have to use a TM -- either the Mega Drain TM you got from Erika, or the Solarbeam TM from the Pokémon Mansion. If you don't do that, you're stuck with Absorb for STAB in Red/Blue, and Yellow only adds Vine Whip; by this point in the game, both of these moves have long outlived their usefulness. In the context of a playthrough, even Mega Drain and Solarbeam are only OK; Mega Drain only has 40 power so its damage is a little lacking even with Tangela's high Special (though the healing aspect is useful as it can at least slightly reduce your need for healing items), and there are no ways to bypass Solarbeam's charge turn yet so you have to either use Sleep Powder first or lean on Tangela's bulk (or both, if you don't outspeed your opponent). Luckily, almost no Gen 1 AI trainers have the ability to switch, and the few that can do it randomly, so in the context of a playthrough, Solarbeam's charge turn isn't nearly as dangerous as it is in competitive.

I didnt know Sandslash had defense like that

I love rocks

Unusable vileplume?! my dude is fine. Mandatory red version Pokémon if you always took Charmander

16:43: No, but I have heard the joke of Caterpie having higher ATK than Onix.

10:20 Tbf rhyhorn isn’t that hard to find in the safari zone. I remember getting so frustrated encountering so many rhyhorns while trying to find the other Pokémons. So you could quite easily catch a Rhyhorn and evolve it to rhydon though rhydon has quite a high level to evolve

Its kinda crazy kingler is so fast lol, even beating out hypno, cloyster, victribell, poliwrath and eggy.

He might be the fastest slow pokemon in the game

Every time I discover that TheDuelLogs makes videos for other games, I feel like I stepped into an alternate universe.

Watching planning tonights Let's Go Eevee team... Thinking of running an amnesia barrier last Mon team ( ppl be running dragon tail as set up bait on mew)

Do one for every stat pleaseee

7:55 That's not true, Weezing is in Pokemon Mansion before Blaine (7th gym), and if you wanted, you could get it even before Sabrina (6th gym)

I think defense is the least important in gen 1.

Being 4x weak to the most common Pokemon type and also one of the stronger types in general is just terrible.

I like slow bro and sandslash. Personally slowbro in gen 1.was very aggressive  so you don't pack rest you pack thunder wave  amensia ice beam surf and he's usually. Beating alot. He's always been a quick 1 or two kills honestly how he's played in gen 1 ou right now but he also. Easily dead.  And requires consistent setup to warp any fight properly

im sure you know this but the reason onix sux so much is because it was supposed to get an evolution but then that didn't happen in gen 1

I kind of wish Game Freak would just give Onix new stats. Just freaking do it.

Will you be making top 10s on speed and attack
