POV: You're Fired from Your Dream Job

Cat Loves Cultures

This week it's your turn to be curious... I'm sure you're wondering where I've been!

In this video, I am getting a bit personal and shedding a tear or two, as I share my experience leaving (or being asked to leave) my dream job of being cabin crew in Dubai.

I still consider the experience one to cherish, as I got to experience living abroad as cabin crew in the Middle East and there's genuinely no feeling that can compare to feeling your dreams actually come true.

I want you to experience the same thing someday, whatever your dream is.

In this video, I share what happened to me though so that the same thing never happens to you.

The airline industry is once again booming and people want to travel. If it's your dream to see the world as Cabin Crew for Emirates, now is the time to apply so don't let my video stop you if it's what you want. Just know what you're in for by watching this video!

What we discuss:
Is Emirates strict as a company?
Do looks matter to the company?
Why was I fired?
How did I get fired? What was the process?
What happens after you get fired?
Where I've been this whole time?

And more!

I really hope this video helps you be more prepared, answer questions related to my personal experience, and help you see that it's not that I forgot about you guys at all, trust me. I missed you just as much if not more.

Thank you so so much for watching my channel!!

See you next time!

Every rejection is a redirection, your destiny is bigger than this. You deserve better and greater things love ❤

Coming from a former Emirates flight attendant, please believe me when I tell you, you've dodged a bullet. I did it for 2 years before quitting - it was exhausting and I was truly miserable. They sell you a dream, but it's a soulless job with a brutal company. They treat you poorly, as you've experienced first hand.

@Bright_Broccoli 2 years ago

I can't believe you weren't allowed to cry in the lobby. Not only would I have sat there and cried, it would have been ugly snotty crying.

At the end of the day, you are a number. Nothing else. I was a Captain 16 years, perfect work record. Pandemic, and its adios to me. They do not value their employees. I now work, in a friendly company, with rights, and tattoos are cool for cabin crew! It was their loss and your destiny is just somewhere else!

If a company can get rid of you and dispose of you quickly,than they don't need your loyalty.

Getting terminated, accepted and then terminated again means that you are meant for something else. You can always try the private aviation sector. NetJets, Vista Jets, or another international airline.

It’s not about the tattoo, and it’s not about them being too strict. You signed a contract stating that you didn’t have any tattoos, which means you were not truthful. It’s not just a matter of speaking untruths; you signed a legal document affirming that you did not have a tattoo.

This may sound harsh, but it’s not meant to be. It’s simply stating the fact that you aren’t someone to be trusted because you did not respect the legal system. A legal document you sign is binding. What you did reflects on your character and has tarnished your reputation. Perhaps that’s why you were "un-hired"; reputations have a way of getting around.

That said, you are a very intelligent woman. Why would you want to be an employee? I suggest considering some entrepreneurial endeavors, as you have the brains and beauty to achieve much more with your life if that’s what you desire. With the money you make, you can travel anywhere in the world you like.

That's kinda creepy that they examine you regularly like it's the 1950s or something!

It’s not your loss, it’s Emirates loss , any airline would be so lucky to have you. You’re smart, beautiful, speaks different languages & you have so much to offer. Good luck✨🌷🦋Here’s to a new adventure💥

What left me speechless was this: "you're not allowed to cry in the lobby".

With the knowledge of 7 languages, you can become a career diplomat for your home country. I do sincerely hope you're doing well and wish you the very best wherever you go in life.

Hello sweetheart! Just watched your video, re: getting fired from EK. Now, I don’t usually comment on posts, but I’ll just say this - It’s their loss and in fact, they did you a huge favour.

I was employed by EK for a number of years as cabin crew, back in 2003. It was toxic then and is clearly not much better today. People from all over the world, desperate to join an organisation that will one day, only disappoint them in the end. The thrill is in the chase, the dream job that is….or so they think. Most crew don’t stay long, they’re happy for about 4 - 6 months until the novelty of flying wears thin, the genuine smiles fade, they’re exhausted. The reality begins to shine through. It wasn’t what they expected at all.

In your case, count your lucky stars above, your termination was a blessing in disguise. 😎

However, important to note that just sometimes….what we can’t have or don’t get can play havoc with our ego…..be mindful of this. In other words, be careful what you wish for and be sure to let go of any remaining disappointment surrounding this experience…..so it doesn’t trick you while hanging around in your head….causing you to reflect and think all sorts. In short….don’t obsess on this experience. Let it go.

Btw….I worked for Etihad too, as cabin crew. Same as EK, just smaller. Someone up there is definitely looking out for you! Your Guardian Angel perhaps!? There’s no such thing as coincidence! The reason for this experience and inner healing will reveal itself, let this happen and when it does, smile and don’t look back!…….There’s bigger plans for you, young lady.

You come across as an intelligent & respectable individual, you present yourself far beyond the requirements of EY & EK. You’re natural and sincere.
Get yourself into VIP cabin crew flying, if flying is what you truly want to do right now. I’m sure the private airlines would only be delighted to recruit you.

DO NOT APPLY TO QATAR AIRWAYS…….🤣

I applied for a job at this big airline as a gate agent. The interview was cut short and obviously I didn't get the job. Months later I found out they have a high turnover and employees complaints. The same position has been open for a while.
My God blessed me with a good job right after I left that interview feeling like a failure!! 🙏🏼✝️🙌🏼

It takes alot of courage to tell your story, and it's so encouraging to hear you share what you're going through. Not alot of people are transparent but your kindness and positivity has always been admired. I know you'll find what's meant for you. You deserve it.

@kernow9324 2 years ago

They treat you like children. You're well rid of that type of working environment.

@WayneAnthony-w1t 2 years ago

The company that doesn’t hire you is the loser. You’re such a beautiful, talented, intelligent and caring person. You will always be a valuable asset to any company who is wise enough to hire you. Wishing you the best in all future endeavors….😊

@nero1747 2 years ago

I mean girl, you litteraly sign a paper pretty much saying "I don't have any tattoos on these parts of my body and if I lie about it i am aware that i'll be fired"

Then lied about it and got fired ...
