Do you have a drawer or box full of old receipts, tickets, and random scraps that you’re not sure what to do with? Well, instead of tossing them out, what if I told you you could turn them into a creative treasure?
In today’s video, I’m going to show you how to do just that with junk journaling. It's an easy, fun, and cosy hobby that’s become a popular creative outlet. Junk journaling is all about repurposing what would otherwise be discarded, like papers, scraps, vintage finds, and turning them into something beautiful. It’s a fantastic way to express yourself, reduce stress, and get a little crafty with things you already have lying around. :)

This year, I am starting junk journaling as I love keeping tickets, receipts and other bits and bobs from memorable days. I am not artistic as most people, but I hope this works with me. As someone who really struggles in finding a hobby that would keep me from being on my screen most hours of the day. I will start with the junks from the previous years, then will go on for 2025. :) If you happen to see this comment, please leave a thumbs up to keep me reminded. ;)

Joining in the Junk Journal January Adventure: I like making full size journals to keep track of many things. I love journaling and have been doing it since the 1970's. I love adding some of my own art into my journals too.

I love your style. One of the things I particularly like is your more relaxed "everything doesn't have to be deep and meaningful" approach.
I recently unsubscribed from one creator because she has gotten so into the "everything neeeeeds to be deep and meaningful" that she literally constantly creates unnecessary drama in her life to have stuff to "put on the page". When art has moved from being a joyful way to relax, and has become a way to make your life a perpetual, slow-moving train wreck.
Thank you for putting joy back into the page!

You were one of the first creators I found on YouTube when I discovered junk journaling earlier this year. I’ve been making junk journals for 11 months now ❤

My plan is to finish making an "experiment journal" to try different styles, before going in to my first proper journal (for memory-keeping)

We don't have the room to store junk journals & I don''t have the time to make them, but I find them so, so fascinating.

Thank you for the video, Meg. Did you start junk journalling when you were a child/teen? I've been playing with mixed media over the holidays but I really suck at it, it just doesn't feel natural so I'm preferring less paint and just mixed papers and recycled materials. I do like mark making as it's very relaxing. I want to record the happy times as 2024 has been pretty tough but also express the raw feelings that come with the ups and downs of life. I really enjoy junk journalling and I'm so happy I found your channel. You've inspired me the most. 🌻🌻🌻
