Eating out used to be one of the easiest ways to enjoy a meal without spending a fortune. For many Americans, that is starting to feel very different.

In this reaction and commentary video, we look at real Americans reacting to the rising cost of restaurants, fast food, groceries, tips, utilities, and everyday expenses.

A family of five spends around $100 at a fast-food-style restaurant. A single cup of soup costs $7. A Whopper is shown at $9 without fries or a drink. A sandwich reaches $16, a salad and drink cost $18, and two sandwiches come out to $41.

Then the prices get even harder to ignore — $70 for two cheeseburgers and two shakes, $60 pasta, $88 for two pieces of lamb, and automatic gratuity added to the bill.

But this isn't just about restaurants.

We also look at a renter whose electric bill suddenly doubled, people with regular jobs cutting back on how much they eat, and a mother doing the math in a grocery aisle to make sure she can afford what her family needs.

The bigger question is simple: when food, groceries, utilities, and other everyday expenses keep getting more expensive, how much longer can people keep spending the way they used to?

The clips featured in this video come from social-media sources and have been carefully selected, trimmed, reorganized, and edited around the central topic.
