Having just had a total abdominal 'hyth-her-ectomy', going through surgical menopause, having started HRT yesterday and bought my first packet of linseed, this is just what I needed! Such a shame that Victoria's story didn't have a happy ending, but she's still giving us menopausal women much needed laughs years later, and will do for years to come.
I saw her with my dearest friend in Southampton years ago. I loved her shows, adored Dinner Ladies, Acorn Antiques and really everything. She was so observant and shone through as such a lovely soul. She left far too soon, bless her xx
What a travesty that this beautiful and funny young woman has passed on so sad. We will all miss you terribly, and your ability to make us laugh. 2016 has truly been a disastrous year so far for entertainers.
Wonderful in everything she did. 'Dinner Ladies' was a real gem. I love how she could be hilariously funny with no swearing or sex-ridden 'jokes'. Very sadly missed.
Oh my aching ribs.Seriously, this gem of a woman is simply one of the most creative women in Britain. One of her funniest lines was spoken by Susie Blake who portrayed the continuity announcer on "As Seen On TV" where she looks at the camera, eyebrows raised,& says,"We'd just like to apologise to people in the North......It must be awful for you". Even now, about 30 years after it aired,I still roar with laughter. Especially as I'd just moved from the North to the South when the Show went out.
Watching and smiling through tears of joy and of sorrow. RIP to a true comedy genius - and an amazingly generous and humble one at that. I still can't quite believe it. RIP Victoria x
It's just struck me...not only was she a genius writer. The delivery is amazing; she manages to rattle off funny lines like a machine gun, without it feeling rushed or forced.
