My two favourite Nottingham folk together in one video, glorious! Also, it's impossible for me to overstate just how much I admire Phil's passion for cutting through the BS, and not just cutting through the BS, but also attempting to establish a conceptual understanding in the viewer's mind.

I will have to watch this a few times before I begin to understand it.

BUT... I now understand more about how a quantum computer actually works than I did as a result of watching all the videos I have already watched.

Shor’s algorithm: modular (like clock) arithmetic plus Fourier transformation on a suitable quantum computer. I never could fathom how it worked before. Fantastic video.

12:46 💫 One of the clearest explanations of Shor’s algorithm I’ve seen. Connecting period finding, Fourier transforms and quantum interference makes the speed-up feel far less mysterious, without relying on the usual “parallel universes” shortcut.

Whole video was about superposition, fourier transform, qubits, probability of an atom being in a particular state, etc but Shor's algorithm.
Refreshed my physics memories from college.

Thank you for being super honest about what QC can do today, and the huge uncertainty on when we could factor RSA. That's refreshing in the field, when most are too busy fear mongering that QC will break encryption before 2030.
