If it were me,  I would have pulled up chair. I would have held his hand.  I would love to have this opportunity.   I would treat this Grey as I would have any living being.   A dog a horse or any other being.   I would have asked him if I could hold his hand.  I would ask the being if I could do anything to help him feel better.  I would talk to the Grey about the beauty of the morning sun.  The joy of seeing the moon and stars.  I would not have been afraid.  I would have been sad.  I would attempt to talk him.  I would tell him that I love him enough if I didn't understand him.    I would have shown him all the love I could give....

Maybe the being asked: "Why would a Holy God allow a being such as myself to be created and not allow me to be Redeemed such as mankind is Redeemed and allowed into heaven?"

That is why he couldn't write the question down, and it is also why he could not provide an answer. This is why he left the faith, because that being exposed him and he had to come to terms with the truth. He no longer believed, and his life was a lie.
As long as we are going to make up stories and not provide any meaningful conclusion.... I'll just add my own narrative.... that's my story and I'm sticking to it. That's the final fictional fait accompli that makes sense to me.

It asked for a chaplain. Not a doctor, not a scientist, not a general. A chaplain. Whatever it was, it believed there might be something after death, and it wanted to know if it was included. Thomas couldn't say yes. That's what broke him.

What Thomas did not know was that the being read all his thoughts and therefore did receive comfort at the end.

This gray doesn't use telepathy. It has the bodily ability to create human speech.

Whoever revealed the existence of intelligent alien life on Earth would be deemed one of the greatest heroes in the history of civilization. Any person who came face-to-face with an alien would know that as well. Our govt could never keep that a secret. There are no aliens from other planets living on Earth. Just what we know about life makes it almost biologically impossible. Just like humans could not live in a planet unless it was the same mass as earth let alone atmosphere. It's a fantasy that unfortunately is used to distract us.

Not everything on social media is the truth.

I suspect that the question to Thomas was whether or not he knew or had known personally his God, and that the Gray being had known his God.
