8:20 - the difference between 20 intelligence and 7 wisdom…

24:20 The thing is, heart attacks is Kira’s MO. He wanted the FBI to know that Kira killed them. That’s how his god complex works. He wants people to worship and/or fear Kira.

If Light hadn't fallen for that trap, L wouldn't know where in the world Kira was as his hypothesis would have been proven 'wrong'

If anyone used the Death Note to the level like Light did, people will notice something is up no matter how clever you think you are.

22:15 I think you’re forgetting a crucial detail(which CJ omitted in his video). He didn’t memorize the names. Light had him write his boss’s name first, and the directions on the page commanded his boss to send files of all the FBI agents in Japan to Ray and he wrote the names in those files on the paper. If I remember right, those files had pictures to match the names. So Light basically guaranteed that it would work the way he wanted. As long as he saw a picture of the person’s face when writing the name, that’s enough.

28:36 Yeah, this was some BUULLL SHlT.
The woman was WAY too quick  to flash her ID for an MF FBI AGENT

Light falling for L's trap early in the anime is a really good narrative choice, since the show basically wants to describe Light and Kira as 2 different people, while Light is lawful good, incredibly smart, and logical, Kira is lawful evil,  incredibly smart, but extremely egotistical, causing his overall downfall, so showing this to the audience early is a really good way to foreshadow his inevitable downfall all in the first 3 episodes.

Light being as young as he was when L first showed up, it makes sense his teen brain got a bit more overinflated.  Another thing to note, Light had no idea someone like L existed until he did fall into the trap with the tv

something I think everyone ignores, is that Light's god complex doesn't actually set in until later.  He believed some higher power would come and punish him for using the Death Note.  It was only after Ryuk said "the fuck you on about?  I don't care how you use it." That Light really started developing that god complex.  Because he realized, there was no consequences.

He up to that point, legitimately was doing this for the sake of making the world a little cleaner, thinking his life in exchange for all this was a good trade.  When he was told he didn't have to pay up?

# 0001 I remember a scene in Death Note where Light didn't want to give Ryuk an apple causing Ryuk to go into a junkie psychotic meltdown. So when Light was about to die, I had wondered if he was going to do something to Ryuk regarding the apples as like a final screw you to him.

First thing I realized when I found out I have aphantasia(can’t imagine visuals), was that a Death Note in my hands would effectively be just a typical Note Book.

It's canon in the manga that the death note will never run out of pages.

8:30 that's what people in the dnd crowd call high intelligence, low wisdom.

Light was booksmart - not so much streetsmart. His fatal flaw was his arrogance and his god complex left him with a fragile ego. All it took was for people to figure that out to use it against him.

Orion: If I'd Had The Death Note I've Would've Made Sure That NOBODY Knew Or Have Access To It. Not Even My Mama Would've Known About This.

Just imagine. If Penbur and his girl weren't morons, he'd have been done in super early.

Light literally did all of this, because he was bored, also he definitely killed a shit load of people in prison who were actually innocent

I don't think people realize that even the most intelligent person's ego can cloud their decision making. I could cook up this brilliant scheme that seems to be perfect, but mess up spectacularly because I underestimated someone's capabilities. That's what I like about Light, he was very smart and clever, but his god complex flaw was the cause of all his mistakes and eventual downfall.

16:40 MMMMM, that bit is a HUGELY over-simplified summation. From what I remember, Raye saw Light hand his date a note detailing how he's going to take the crook down, and told him, "No, don't do that, you'll just get yourself killed. Let me deal with him." Light then asked for proof that he could be trusted, claiming that for all he knew, Raye was working with the crook to make sure nothing went wrong with the ransom. Raye, who at this point was starting to doubt that Light was Kira, took this as proof that he was right and handed over his I.D. to show that he was no threat.

That, of course, is how it happened in the manga. I don't know if anything changed in the anime, but I hope this makes Raye look less stupid.

Let’s be real. Most of us would follow light’s footsteps in the beginning thinking at first ‘oh this ain’t real haha’ then later ‘I need to prove to myself I didn’t really kill him’… light just went off the deep end afterwards instead of stopping.
