This is the reason why I've never drank alcohol in my life, because everyone in my family except me is an alcoholic or has struggled with alcoholism.

It should be noted that identical twins have different fingerprints because of the influence of the random stochastic motion of water molecules on their finger pads in utero, not because of mutation.

I used to be a craft beer nerd until I realized I was an alcoholic and had to stop drinking. And now that I don't drink, the beer I don't drink is a lot better than the beer that other people don't drink.

I'm almost three years sober, went to treatment and am an active AA member. This taught me things I didn't know and was hard to listen to at times, but I'm still deeply grateful you made it.

No kidding; my Father was a Yuuge Alcoholic but I didn’t have the stomach for it, so I chose Drugs instead. Thank the Lord those days are over with 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️

My dad died less than 2months ago from alcoholism.
Better be clean than dead. I'm proud of everyone here who is keeping it clean and know the struggle of being addicted.

I'm from Kenya, we have huge drinking problems in the Kalenjin and Kikuyu tribes, not sure about others but the stereotype of an alcoholic here is someone from one of those two communities. I happen to be half Kalenjin half Kamba. Maybe the Kamba side of me made me less likely to be an alcoholic because after a night of drinking I am wrecked and can't touch it for days to weeks.

You are relatively young, Adam. I have personally know people in their 30s and 40s who barely drank at all, even in their 59s, but then the disease blossomed. Don’t be so sure you’ve dodged this bullet.

Yep. Dad was an alcoholic, grandpa was an alcoholic, and I have several extended family members with addiction issues. I learned many years ago that as long as I keep spirits out of the house, I'm good. I'm very thankful for that resolution of mine and that it's stood the test of time.

Hi! I'm a Slav. Slovak to be specific, another West-Slavic country. And the strong intolerance you yourself described you got from your mother also runs in my family. At least, my mother's side and my sister. My father seems to tolerate it well, but still drinks only on special occassions. I have never tried any alcohol. I'm probably predisposed to substance abuse due to mental health issues so I'm trying to just stay clear of that whole bag of cookies altogether.
