I spent over 15 years of my life as a correctional officer in Florida—first in county jails, and later in a maximum-security state prison. During that time, I witnessed hundreds of stories just like this gentleman’s. I would estimate that nearly 70% of the inmates I encountered came from the same kind of background: single-parent households, deep poverty, parents battling addiction or cycling in and out of jail, and absolutely no real chance at a stable or “normal” life. I even saw fathers incarcerated alongside their sons, and siblings serving time together. So when I hear a story like this—someone who spent more of his life behind bars than on the streets, yet comes out determined to help kids avoid the same path—it truly means something. Voices like his are incredibly valuable. Individuals who have lived this reality should be part of the curriculum in high schools and middle schools, sharing their stories and helping young people understand the real consequences of their choices. Kudos to you, sir. May God bless you for using your past to build a better future for others. 🙏

I'm from Memphis, and I understand every word he's saying... It's a Southern thing, and we understand one another lingo throughout the whole South.

What's more impressive is the guy who grew up with adversity and didn't let his surroundings define him. That's the guy that doesn't get his props ,the guy who put his head down and worked to better his life and his families life.  But that's not a sensational story.

We need more of these untold Miami stories... late 80s and 90s miami was crazy

Miami isnt talked about enough, it’s a very crazy city

Born & raised in Miami. I remember when I first started traveling & realizing how messed up the city is.
We grew up seeing the flashy lifestyle, yet the legitimate ways to obtain that lifestyle were limited.

Momma said “you into everything but a coffin” 😂

This is so hilarious hearing him talk Miami, slang, and Cox struggle to keep up😅 it’s crazy because everything he’s saying is true. I don’t know him personally, but I live the same exact life that he has not only me, but a few of my other partners. It feels like he’s telling my story.😂😂😂 so hilarious but great great great interview👌🏾

I"ve found him very entertaining and very real...glad he turned his life around.

McDuffie Riots ? Overtown / Liberty City Riots of 1981 ? Crazy times in Miami -- Marianna boat lift,( like in the Scarface movie ?) South Florida in the early 1980's was wild West.

Matt would do better with these guys as far as interviews go , he understands the system and the people, unlike Vlad .

Guess what, the state screwed up again because now every time you see a car and the registration tag says PM that means it’s a rental so you can target rentals again

If you go back through Brett Johnson’s interview that he did with you, you’ll hear him say him and his family arrived in Miami at the same time the McDuffy riots occurred.

I like how he mentioned how huge NWA was. Even in Miami. Even when Luke and 2livecrew was hot and burning up the charts in Miami, NWA really spoke for the streets. From the Westcoast to the dirty south. Eazy resonated with Liberty City, Overtown, etc.

Unc i’ve been trying to finish this for three days straight cause I don’t wanna miss nothing. I turn it off if I can’t stay tuned.. I felt this life word for word.  I’m trying so hard to get out the field but I’m stuck cause I got so many people depending on me … That’s the real addiction.💯

This shit is not horrible it’s just the truth.

that first look at the camera from matt is classic when he says he was sent to juvie at 8 years old.

Shout out to the guest, he did his best to explain his story and deal with the condescending host.

Bo Diddley, Convertible Bert, Turnpike Ike, Big Trav, and Bossman were big time Miami drug dealers in the 80s. They were so big I was born in 89 and heard of them in the 2000s when I was going to school in Broward County.
