its not knight f5 its knife f5!

Pattern recognition was one of the keys of the outstanding publishing success of Dr. Tarrasch's classic "Das Schachspiel"... 😊

Excellent review!  I agree that a lot of analysis can be over the top.  I rarely even watch postmortems from GM tournaments anymore.  Most postmortems seem to have everyone reciting long-winded lines that the casual viewer can't even keep up with.  I get way more out of watching your videos because you explain the ideas behind the moves and the possible moves.  And, you actually explain what's going on in the positions rather than just spending all of your time reciting possible lines.

Been missing videos from you of late...

A very interesting book to be sure, I learned a new way to think about chess. Putting the bishop back is very unintuitive for example, I would have gone Nb5 straight away and tried to play on those weak dark squares. Very handy knowing these motifs, so that you can surprise your opponents with some unconventional but strong moves.

Thanks for the review Daniel. The motif of bringing the bishop back inside the pawn chain isn't one I've seen before, very instructive.

Such a good point in assessing what won’t work. Sometimes you really want something to work that just won’t no matter what you try to finagle.

For reasons yet unknown to mankind, I cannot watch this vid.  However,  technicians might understand what the problem is. Thanks fo the upload tho...  :-)

Great review, provide good explanation what the book is about, its benefit for reader/club player like me, who sometimes in the middle game got stuck and ran out of ideas. Very helpful.

Because of your fine review I just now ordered the book. Thank you!

Great concept for a book, well chosen and thanks for the review

I bought the book mr Daniel it's descent but not like the other one you recommended "the complete manual of Positional chess" the complete manual of Positional chess is amazingly good and highly instructive .

You're selling the book to me :)

I would just say, we never use the word "nice", although, I think you use the word appropriately in this instance and I guess knowing when to use something appropriately ;)

Very good review.

Great video review!  I'm planning to study this book on Chessable some day soon.

Thanks!

This looks like a wonderful book. will share review on facebook for my chess friends.

In case you were wondering, a club player should have a rating between 1500 to 1800 FIDE ELO, I might be slightly off but, it should be around it.

Thx.

Daniel, are you going to do the F.D. Yates game that mentioned while commentating a while back?
