I understand why scenes are blurred. But if they weren’t, this video would be a 10 out of 10.

@PUREWW2 Heartfelt  Appreciation !  for all these testimonies from the child  soldiers  that survived for this documentary. I have had many deep  conversations  about WW2  with  HJ / Vets and  Survivors of WW2.

I have two stories regarding  this topic. My uncle was a rifleman in Patton's Third Army. He was a lead scout and I think he turned 19 years old while in service.  Anyway I guess his unit was just walking along when they spotted three German soldiers who looked like 7th graders dressed up for a school play. His sergeant asked my uncle if he could hit them and my uncle said yes (he explained he could snap power lines if needed). He said he took the shot and missed intentionally,  allowing them to scamper away. Although he was not much older than them he said he couldn't do it.  The other story is of a guy I knew who was in the Hitler youth but didn't do any fighting. He ended up in the US postwar and served in the US Army. Of course he did a TDY in Germany during that time. One day at the coffee shop he produced a stack of black and white pics of Germany during the build up to WW2 when they still thought they were going to conquer the world. It was sort of weird to see the pics but I felt compelled to look at them. I say weird because I sensed that he was proud of that time,  proud of being in the Hitler Youth.  If you recall there was a lot of talk near the end about secret super weapons in development by the Germans and he gave his true loyalties away by saying wistfully,  "If only we had a little more time. ".

I would be way more in fear for my life as a prisoner of a 17 yr old soldier than one of  27.

In my possession is a small brown leather belt, brought back by my late uncle from his time fighting in the U.S. Army in France, then Belgium (The Battle of The Bulge).
It had been carefully stored for many years until recently, when it's identity was revealed as a belt type worn by a Hitler Youth. It will fit up to a size 26 waist. Whether
he obtained it from living or dead will never be known, as he himself passed in 1995.But it has metric size stampings, and the eagle/swastika stamped at the end tab.

I was watching "Flight of the Phoenix" with Jimmy Stewart the other night and surprised to find out that the "Model Aircraft Designer" Hardy Kruger in the movie was in real life an avid Hitler Youth who at the age of 17 was enlisted in the German Army. Just a fun fact, good actor.

Other than this video getting credit for my view, I won't give it any type of positive recognition because of the censorship.
This is history, history shouldn't be blurred.

Is the music very loud ?

70% "volunteered" gives a new meaning to the word

I went to school in Geelong 1966 , and had school friends from Germany 🇩🇪 , who's father's and step father's we're Hitler youth 🙄 , many had severe problems 🙄

It was sure blurry in the 40's.

Documentaries like this should not be blurred!!

😮ある意味ドイツ軍の中でもっとも勇敢に戦った兵士たちだろう。😮

Great narrator

We can say this and that about the german leadership at that time but compare those 14yo kids to the ones now, its absolutely pathetic!

My dad and grandfather took me to our small, ancestral village in 1968 when I was 14. I met my uncle Gerhard and he spoke some English and I some German. One day he told me what had happened to him when he was 14 as a member of the Hitler Youth. His unit was mobilized to defend Berlin nearly 900 miles away. A few hundred miles south of that city, it's commander split the boys by age- those under 15 were sent with an older boy to the southwest to surrender to the Americans. Those older accompanied this commander onto Berlin. Nearly all of the younger boys eventually returned to his village but the older ones along with the Commander were never seen again.

Please,
Where’s Part 1 ?

Well I guess you really had to be there to fully understand. I can easily see how a young kids get easily caught up in all the glamour. Nationalism can be dangerous if promoted in the wrong way. This was really informative giving us just a glimpse in life under Nazi Germany.

❤ I was born in 1954. In 1968, I was moored with my 23-foot wooden boat at the dock of a small marine gas station. I then heard the nice man—whom I often talked to and who spoke with a slight accent—screaming and scolding a young girl of about 9 years old who was standing there feeding seagulls from a packed lunch. Afterwards, he came over to me looking very frightened, completely sweaty, and ran his hand nervously across his face. When I had filled the tank and was about to pay, he said, "Please, sit down here for a moment."
"I am sorry for what you saw," he said. "I was that girl's age in Germany during the war. Those of us who lost our family survived on whatever we could find. We even scraped off the fat we found on the inside of peeling bins and ate everything we came across. Seeing a girl throw away fresh bread with butter and toppings is painful for me to watch," he said with tears in his eyes. "I hope you don't think badly of me. I shouldn't have screamed and scared her like that."
This gave me an understanding of war that I often think about.
