Hi everyone thank you for the overwhelming positive feedback on this video! I am glad it's helping people navigate through Coyote Gulch and I have also added other videos on my channel regarding the rope climb and other important things so if you want to know more, please see those videos, thanks!

Minor nitpick. The route from the Red Well trailhead actually follows the upper part of Coyote Gulch. The confluence is the confluence of Coyote Gulch and Hurricane wash. The most scenic part of Coyote gulch, with the arches, natural bridge, waterfalls and deeply overhung bends does start at the confluence. When I went there in the late '80's, I went in via Redwell, and did it as a leisurely 5 day packpack. It could have easily been done in 2 or 3 days, but the way I did it allowed lots of time for exploration and photography. The part of the trail from Redwell to the Confluence is also quite scenic, though not as spectacular as the lower part. as you transition from a wash in flat desert into a deepening canyon. I haven't hiked the Hurricane Wash route, so I can't say whether it is more scenic than the Redwell route. The Redwell route is only about a mile longer than the Hurricane Wash route. However you get there, I highly recommend going all the way to the river, so you see Stephens Arch, which is actually located on the wall of the Escalante River canyon opposite where Coyote Gulch joins the Escalante. If you enter via Crack in the Wall, you will enter Coyote Gulch near the Escalante.

If you enter via Redwell or Hurricane Wash, it will be almost impossible to get lost, as you will be following a canyon the whole way. The other two routes require navigating across slickrock, which can be tricky.

"Bring a phone and install a compass app."
Or, you could bring an actual compass, which won't quit working due to a dead battery, though a phone does also give you the optino of installing a GPS app (download the maps for the area, as cell service will be sketchy or non-existent in the canyon).

Very helpful for someone planning a trip. Thanks!

Wow.   Well done video.  I search for this information a ton prior to my trip last Sept to Coyote gulch.  It’s nice to see someone put it in one spot and summarize it.  Good information.  I would add that one needs to be careful when driving past the water tanks and not get stuck in the sand.

Super helpful 👍 love the map, very clear! Really appreciate your work!

Incredibly helpful. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
