A generation raised in a post apocalyptic world would have more in common with kids raised during the great depression or frontier territories but more paranoid. Not Gen z valley girls.
talking about inconsistencies, in season 1 Joel also teach Ellie that when its night time one sleep and the other guards the place, but then you see Ellie and Dina BOTH sleeping and nobody is making sure they are safe. Its like she forgot everything she learned, or she has amnesia.
It's amazing how Progressive writing keeps unironically and accidentally presenting the message that having women in charge is a terrible idea. This, Last Jedi, etc., it just keeps happening.
Natural gas generators typically do not have tanks. Natural gas plumbing requires pumping just like water does. It's just another thing that reminds me that the people who wrote this are the type of people who think vegetables come from grocery stores and not farms.
Pushing the doors open like that doesn't give commander vibes. It gives mega Karen about to scream at a minimum wage employee because her McDonalds fries weren't yellow enough vibes.
4:11 I’m surprised you didn’t mention how poorly blocked this shot is. It makes her look small compared to her peers, because literally everyone else in this scene is towering above her, diminishing whatever little bit of gravitas she was able to convey by her masculine abuse of those doors. In fact, at first I thought this was the intention; to portray her as someone with power who thinks she’s more commanding than she is, but is actually the smallest person in any room - literally and figuratively - and delusional with power.
The writing for season 2 completely abandoned the concept of "Show don't tell" and instead went for "Tell and tell again". I kind of feel insulted as a consumer when director's think they have to spoon feed us what is happening on screen like we don't have eyes and can see what is going on.
7:09 I feel like a lot of people get the “show don’t tell” rule messed up like this, it doesn’t mean you have to show everything about a character, it means you should develop characters and ideas by showing them not telling them. No they did not need to show all his quirks, but if they only told us his character without us seeing it for ourselves he would be underdeveloped. If someone just exposited that he’s a weirdo that would have no impact. In Infinity War, Thanos TOLD us his plan to wipe out all life, but in doing so he SHOWED us that he was someone willing to do anything to achieve what he believed would be a better life for all who remain. Show don’t tell often means show us something with what you tell us
Every time you just blind side us with "Potato Lady" like it's a common and normal descriptive adjective it catches me so off guard at how absurdly true it is, I burst out laughing.
The Last of Us Season 2 is a Masterclass in Bad Writing
