When people hear the word "kamikaze," they often imagine fearless Japanese pilots willingly sacrificing themselves during the final stages of World War II.

These videos have become my favourite things on YouTube. I’ve suffered from insomnia a lot of my life and slowly have overcome it. For 15 years I’ve had to play something to listen to before bed and it was the same thing every night but it stopped working. I’m so grateful I’ve found this channel, thank you for your time and effort!.

The decision to tell this in the second person (You) makes it incredibly haunting. It stops being a history lesson and becomes a memory you never actually had. The transition from worrying about a mundane mosquito bite in a humid room to sitting in a "coffin with rockets" is terrifyingly well written. I felt every second of that wait.

⭐️🇯🇵 I listened to fall asleep but when I woke up I listened to the story again. IT'S A GREAT STORY. WELL DONE!!!⭐️🇯🇵

I am listening from Washington State in the hospital - it is 2:54 AM and I cant sleep

Great story! Enjoy hearing historical stories, even from the perspective of soldiers on the other side. Well presented, still so sad. I'm in Baltimore, Maryland, US. Started it around 5am, went back to sleep but played it again this morning.

I gotta pick up at the last part i remember each night as I lay down lmao, these put me to sleep but also get me so invested

These are so excellent. The only problem is it takes several nights to finish b/c I fall asleep. Never knew they designed units to be crashed. I had always believed pilots crashed their compromised planes into ships instead of just dropping them wherever.

9pm. Massachusetts,  USA.  Love these stories! Every night i listen to fall asleep too. Its awesome! Thanks!

Michigan, thank you. noon ish, nap time with MS 🧡 your stories help me so much, thank you 😊

I never even considered the entire process.  That 1st meeting when they explained what the plan was? Intense!!!Incredible story telling. Love these so much.  This one is right up there with Yukon GoldRush

Best channel ever!! Wish the uploads were more frequent:(

Alberta Canada ❤ keep up this excellent work !

Nelson, BC, Canada...I love these bedtime stories

Greetings from Cape Town. 02 Jan 26 at 14:54

I was 12 the first time I watched a documentary about the kamikazes. It was the Dogfights episode on the History Channel. I couldn’t understand how people could become human bombs. I then watched the Secret Weapons episode, and it talked about the Oka. There were also suicide torpedoes. How? I watched another documentary when I was 12 that talked about the kamikazes in more detail, and how it meant divine wind. This one made me really sad at the time because there were letters from them,  fragments. There was one from a father writing to his daughter, essentially saying that he knows that other daughters have their fathers, but that he wanted her to know that her father died a hero. I read sort of a children’s book later on that talked about them from both sides.
As an American, and as a Christian, I cannot understand it. How could a country think so little of its people, it’s men, to do this to them? How could someone think so little of their life to die like that? I feel so terribly for their families, and I feel rage at the people who planned it. I’m the same age as the fictional people in the video. I know they believed it would make a difference, but it didn’t. Maybe they made themselves believe it. How could it ever be said to be voluntary? I know enough to know that Shane is a powerful motivator in the traditional Japanese culture, and it was then. I just cannot understand it. At least if they took off in a plane, they had options, but the people strapped into the Okas did not. Lord strike down any country that turns its people into human bombs.

It helps me fall asleep, but part of me feels guilty relaxing to stories like these

Wisconsin currently 11:59 PM going to bed. Btw love the history, I listen to  it almost every night

The actual problem is that they were not really effective.
