Vague constraints lead to vague outcomes.
In this video, I break down a better option.
The goal is to be able to catch a ball middle-in, get to it, and stay through it. No front side leaking off. No path running off to the right or left.
Then fight for that post contact direction. Do that off multiple pitch types, multiple tools, multiple angles, and now you have a swing that works.
Then you get to forget about it, because the move is baked in and you can just be ball focused and approach focused instead of predetermining where you're trying to hit it.
I'm speaking from personal experience. A lot of Pullside low hard hooked ball flight.
I reverse engineered this from what kept me out of the major leagues mechanically, which led to mental blocks and self-sabotage because I couldn't trust myself to do what my brain was telling my swing to do against AAA and big league pitching.
I was focused on old school stuff. I never thought about posture, hand path, setup, or post contact direction until it was too late.
Aim small, miss small. Chase that level of perfection, getting square with a round bat and a round ball, and you build a swing with a large margin for success.
My hope is that this video pushes the game forward & challenges everyone to think differently about hitting & pulling the ball in the air.
