I mean, I’m not in medical field, but I’m pretty confident most normal people would rather deal with chatbots than go into medical debt

I think i will wait on a rebuttal from the sheriff of potassium before making any conclusions on this topic.

“ I don’t think people want AI robots to tell them they have cancer”

A human doctor walks in after your Ai check up at the hospital

Patient: “oh god, this must be really bad news”

Another group of professionals who are in denial are lawyers.

The replacement of Doctors by AI is not a factor or function of how good the AI is. It's about cost and legal liability. Hospitals will accept lower standard of care for their patients, if the cost of getting sued balanced against the revenue generated by not hiring doctors still turns a profit.

“Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful masterpiece?”
“Can you?”

It's certainly something to see SoS drop this immediately as I get accepted to medical school.

Bill Gates: in 10 years, there won’t be any more doctor jobs.

Anesthesiologists, who have been hearing that their field is soon to be obsolete since 1991: hey I’ve seen this one before

If AI has replaced medical doctors, then society is screwed because a ton other professions have already been replaced

The most competitive specialities being the most ai resistant sounds like a great thing for competitiveness.

Radiology will be replaced by AI in 5 years’ — first said in 1989, then 2001, 2012, 2019, and again in 2024. Meanwhile, there’s a radiologist shortage like we’ve never seen. AI is to Computer Science what Fusion is to Physics: always promising, rarely arriving on schedule

Let me know when AI can be held liable for medical malpractice.

AI is going to completely destroy the workforce. It had been my dream to start a film production company but now with the advancements in AI it’s pretty much pointless within the next five years I’ll be able to be replaced.

When it comes to AI and mid-level scope creep, doctors could learn a lot from administrators when it comes to the ability to secure job preservation and expansion

The delivery in the bit at 5:27 about “bp up, me give bp down medicine” was pretty hilarious.

Look at how well Realtors have legally protected their field. Physicians will do the same.

I could imagine a future where step 1 of your yearly clinic review is to step into a comprehensive scanner. The scanner takes visual pictures and images, it uses millimeter wave tech to see through your body for anything questionable, and maybe it does a no contrast MRI. Then you get your blood drawn to test for a variety of important metrics which goes to an automated lab. Then an AI analyzes all the results and sends you off to specialists if necessary or provides basic lifestyle changes and or prescriptions or vaccines to solve or prevent any issues. In this way you can basically get a comprehensive health checkup every year which should catch 99% of illnesses before they're significant

brutal video. but i think before ai replaces doctors, many other jobs - including most office jobs - would have been replaced for years.

I think these are all incredibly important points and yes in theory AI can replace doctors. However I truly think if AI can replace doctors then they can replace anything, and if they can replace anything then there will always be a business that wants to use it to replace everything. However if AI can do everything better, then what jobs can realistically be left for actual people? I think the notion of AI replacing everything implies a sort of Schrodinger's AI where it can create all the supply in the world and still maintain the demand. Where will the demand be if people can't pay for things anymore because every job a human could have was replaced by AI? At that point the game of the world will have concluded: every dollar and piece of land in this galaxy will be owned by businesses who make AI. The economy will never move again, then anarchy will ensue until mother nature swallows us up again for destroying the climate (accelerated by the high energy cost of maintaining AI servers). I imagine somewhere, someone will intervene before we ever get there and I sure hope it's before someone's career dissolves overnight simply because they were unfortunate enough to have been alive today

This reminds me of meme
> You're just a robot, can you write a Symphony?
> Can you?
