If you needed to introduce Mayer to your guitar teacher, you need a new teacher.

I introduced my gardener to plants

David Ryan Harris said: "I'm a singer who plays guitar, John (Mayer) is a GUITAR PLAYER who sings." Nailed it in my opinion.

"like if BB King went to berklee" might be the most apt description of john mayer's playing i have ever heard

He is hands down the greatest guitar player alive. I don't care what anyone says. From his tone, his use of timing, technique, and note utilization.. His blues stuff is amazing, Dead and Company really elevated his guitar playing ability as well.

John Mayer is at that level of skill where you’re just a conduit between your physical skill and the abstract form of music itself.

Hello Jack Jennings here from the video. As I said in the first minute of the video I do know who John Mayer is😂. I have even taught some of his songs to students but I have not fully explored or examined his playing.

So we thought it would be good for Sam to guide me to one of his favourite performances by John.

If you didn't pick up on that and you're simply here to comment and complain about the title of the video......  well, that's Youtube for you.

Thank you all for watching and boosting the video anyway with your hilarious comments 😊.

how could a guitar teacher not know John Mayer

his live at the nokia where the light is album is his masterpiece. sure slow dancing and gravity, but also belief, bold as love, the acoustic songs in the first part, its soo good

Yeah..John was inspired by B.B King..he said that in interviews

The pauses between the solo phrases are the most important thing in this rendition.
Channeling some Freddie King vibes.

Having Pino on stage with him is JMs biggest flex

There is a fluency and complete literacy in playing like this.

I would really love to see both of you react to his "Covered in Rain" live in Birmingham. My favorite solo of all time, absolutely epic and powerful.

Time to get a new teacher. 😅

Being a vocalist helps his phrasing and musical choices when soloing. Puts musicality ahead of technique. He could sing most of his guitar licks and phrases and they would sound great.

How the fuck does a guitar player need to be introduced to John Mayer?

He can play the guitar like he was ringing a bell. I think he's had that thing in his hands every day for 30 years

Loved this reaction! Would love to see your teacher react to "I'm Gonna Find Another You" from WTLI - his phrasing in the intro solo is ridiculous

John plays guitar in pure flow state.
