Everyone, please stop commenting on how oikawa didn’t make kageyama change because i have replied many times that i see it as a contributing factor and when i made this video, i haven’t finished the manga so please bear with me and stop. I just wanted to say the reason kageyama went through that was because his grandpa died and his grandpa was alot of his motivation it was not oikawa ( i just wanted to let yall know )!

Analysis on Kageyama Tobio (I didn't finish the manga pls don't shout at me. I also didn't rlly know how to explain a lot of things so some of this is just my opinion or what I think the scene portrayed)



So 1st year junior high he was a really sweet kid and just wanted to be like his Idol Oikawa Toruu. Oikawa Toruu who seemingly has some sort of superiority complex, felt like Tobio was improving way too fast and that he would be overthrown and forgotten. Leading Oikawa to almost slapping Kageyama if not for Iwazumi Hajime keeping Oikawa in check after the incident. That's where he probably got his slight anger for Oikawa.

Moving on to his home life. Kageyama seems to have an unstable home life with neglectful/often busy parents. In a panel you see Kageyama coming home to a seemingly empty house. We are assuming from other panels and stuff His Grandfather was the one taking care of him and who probably taught him volleyball. We learn that Kageyama's Grandfather died assuming in middle school year 2. After his grandfather's death he became the tyrant king of the court he once was. And with Kunimi, Kindaichi, and The rest of the team ig. Pushed him and led Kageyama to continue using his words to hurt others as a way of coping his own anger and sadness.

So in the anime you see the scene where Kageyama finally breaks and shouts at the team. Having realized what he's done he bows in apology not wanting his team to betray him again. You see Hinata and the rest of the team assure Kageyama that he's ok and that they accept the fact that he can be a tyrant king but that's not all of what he is. You see in the scene Kageyama finally smiling.
