To anyone obsessing about gear: this only means you are stuck in fear an the gear question is your brains way of tricking you to think you can't start❤use your phone❤

Great job on this Kevin. I didn't start my YouTube channel until I was in my 50s. One more thing I would add is not to do it for the views or for the hope of money, but you can do it just for fun. Also, if no one seems to be watching it first, don't worry. Just keep uploading and enjoy your creative and communication outlet.

I love making art whether I get paid or not it's something I'm super passionate about

You don't need to invest in expensive equipment to get some attention on You Tube. My dog, Bellissima, has been getting so many compliments that I finally decided to make a video for her on my Channel. And I did it without sophisticated knowledge of creating videos. All I did was to put together few pictures of her in the form of a video. It is a very short video, but has brought her many more Fans.

I would like to help people I would like give people hope. I'm 21 years clean from alcohol and drugs and I would like to pass on my story.

Hi Kevin! Interesting that you are over 60 and that you mentioned Sean Cannell. My name is Rex and I just finished watching a live stream with Think Media and I just turned 60 two months ago and I was let go from my job 2 weeks ago. So we have a lot in common. I had a YouTube channel two years ago but I abandomed it because I didn't have the time to dedicate to it because of work. Here I am and I'm finding myself not working once again, and I'm thinking about YouTube for the second time. I've had several jobs over the last six years and I'm so done with working for other companies and large corporations where you're just a number and you're treated like a robot. I appreciate your video so much because I like to write but I also like to make pictures and I'm a bit of a computer nerd. Thank you!

"The world needs me"... I like that.
Thank you 😎👍

I am over 70 and was thinking of doing a podcast! You really informed me and encouraged me. I’m frustrated with trying to maintain my relationships with adult children who have not been emotionally responsive to me and makes me sad! I wanted to use this as my “niche”! Thanks for your guidance!

Hi Kevin, I a my well over 40 and did my first youtube video about 12 years ago. My daughter ( youtube star) told me I need to focus on one topic. I did this and began my journey on building my British model railways.
It is a small and competitive niche and presently I have 1.4k subs.
I produce shorts, Live and long format videos including how to demos.
I know there are some very successful channels producing the same subject out there but I haven’t figured out why I am not competing.
In the meantime O love doing what I do

I think I am in the perfect niche because immediately after I was laid off last year, my colleagues reached out because they missed my stories about helping aging parents who did not make plans for their old age (outside of saving money) and why it's important we do not repeat the cycle.  I don't care about monetization, just reach because I am that passionate about it.

I'm 65 years old planning on retire in three more years and just now starting up a YouTube channel my content is not that great but got to start somewhere.

Love this! I manage medical meetings and events professionally and my docs joked a few months ago about me having to present at some point. I told them I would only do it if they were okay with hearing about travel, vanlife, and the art of interviewing. That was when I knew it made no sense to focus my channel on living with long COVID, even if it helped a few people. It's so important to focus on something you truly enjoy because creating content can be a lot of work at times. Good luck to everyone who's figuring out where to start (or restart)!

Watching multiple videos that you have on your channel.  Thank you for encouraging us older people to get on YouTube.  I am 68 and working two jobs, I would love to be home as I have been working since I was 14.  Most times two and occasionally 3 jobs at the same time.  Want to be home with family so they recognize me and remember who I am

Turning 50 in a few weeks. Been playing with YouTube 4 years. I'm learning enough by now to get serious. I'm a musician and was a stage hand/production technician for 30 years until covid. I'm posting g psychedelic post industrial music videos. It's a hard niche but I love it. Thanks for the  inspiration

Im 41 and people used to keep saying they love my outfits, the way i put together random things and create new looks everyday, and how i would always tell them that all my products are thrifted and i dont buy expensive stuff- so over time I realized that my skill was buying dirt cheap stuff and wear them in  a way that people would think as Designer. So, I’m making that my niche. Even at 2 am, I love putting together looks. It may sound vain to some people, but it genuinely makes me happy ❤ Just started 2 days back…

I like this dude!
Not many amongst us realize nowadays,
that we can be ALL OF THAT ❤✨

Kevin.....I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate this video! I came across your videos today and you have made me have my "AHA" moment!!!! I am 50 and have been an ER nurse for over 20 years and guess what? I am BURNED OUT! In 2023 I completed my certificate in Integrative Holistic Health & Wellness Nurse Coaching and have been trying to figure out my niche and marketing for some time. I have started my coaching business and have spent MAJOR $$$$/investments in different programs and platforms trying to understand it all but not getting anywhere with confidence. Today, you have sparked something in me and I am so eager to learn more! I am taking your advice with these questions and will be doing each one and writing them down in a journal/notebook (s) as I too have multiple unfinished notebooks from past years, LOL You have made this learning experience for me exciting and not fearful of putting myself out to the world! It is approachable and finally I am able to grasp at something with ease!  THANK YOU and looking forward to more of your videos!!!!!

I have been fortunate and have had some success on YouTube ( 150 million views) and started my channel mid 50. One key to success is identifying your niche and specifically who you are making your videos for. I call this my Avatar and it took my awhile to figure this out but my channel started growing when I knew very clearly who my Avatar was. Also, YT will give you clues with analytics. If a couple of videos have done really well maybe that should go in that direction. If you fight the 800 pound Gorilla it is hard to win, go in the direction you think YT wants.

I'm 57 and my first love is music. I see my channel growing and I thankyou for the motivation.
