The long consistency of Hitchens's position on totalitarianisms of every hue is wholly admirable, and his intellectual courage a beacon. Unlike most of his critics, his thinking was tested and evolved in light of friendships and experiences in many parts of the world, and hard won to a rare degree. He met the mothers of the "disappeared" in Latin America, and bore witness to the mass graves of Iraq. He challenged us to think for ourselves, and to ignore the easy dogmas left of right.
It is impossible to exercise complete freedom of speech without offending anyone! Quite simply because everybody'experiences life in a subjective way! Some feelings are meant to be hurt for the greater good/bad of humanity.
