18:35  I also don't get that when bangchan cried because a fan died they called him cringe meanwhile when a girl idol cries it's okay because "she's a girl" thats so sexiest, for both girl and boy idols

the biggest double standard in kpop is BTS vs the whole kpop industry & it's fact
no matter what the situation is , if it's related to BTS or not the topic end up being BTS.... if someone do something wrong suddenly the topic is abt BTS & the original issue is forgotten. BTS is their scapegoat. i know BTS hv done problematic things in the past but the important thing is they apologized, acknowledged it & never did it again & grew as human. & ppl forget most members were teenagers back then but bcz they r BTS they 'should know everything' like wtf. & gg stans r ridiculous... kpoppers r putting yoongi falling down from his scooter infront of his house in the same catogery as taeli situation....  in the yoongi situation his face was everywhere, k media were using false cctv footages  but the same k media cover the faces of grap*sts & murde*rs...
& a girl (engene) took her life bcz engenes cyber bullied her & sent death threats & do u know where it is going now? suddenly we're getting involved too when we literally has nothing to do with it. without reflecting they r trying to use us as the scapegoat
when something happens with a kpop  grp BTS is their scapegoat
when something happens with a kpop fandom ARMYs r their scapegoat
in the coke incident the hate V received.. do i even hv to talk abt it? it went for months even after the official announcemeny by coca cola korea stated they hv nothing to do with israel. & then we had many female idols promoting adidas, coke, sprite & many more , now we hv a female idol promoting meta glasses which literally is an invasion of others privacy but nobody gaf bcz they r not BTS
in jk, winter rumour ARMYs were chill & saying our members r adults they can do /date whoever they want but her fans ignored her, started a hate train against both jk & her, then ARMYs clapped back & in the end as always we became the bad ppl & they became the victims. i can talk abt things like these for a whole day but what's the point? ppl who don't know a thing & only saw what they want to see & believe will come at me
edit- some of the comments here literally prove my point. i never said ARMYs r always correct. there r times that ARMYS r the worst. but it's like only 10% of the times. ppl here saying 'we're playing the victim', when did we ever get the chance to play the victim? whenever something happens we always end up being the bad ppl no matter what while all others play the victim card , don't even try to deny this.... no matter what the situation is we're always the villain
now there's a trend going 'if swim win the soty when these exists...' just bcz they don't like swim & continue to include most random tiktok songs. & kpoppies r making fun of swim but what will happens if an ARMY did that? except for ARIRANG songs there's only 2 kpop songs i like this year but if i did the same as them......
u kpop stans r really pathetic cowards, always playing the victim card. all of ur common enemy is BTS & us while we hv football, anime, western stans too fighting with us bcz they only know BTS

12:02 “why is it have to be grown men as audience is [considered] superior to young girls as audience?” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

If you want to know about the difference between male and female stars in the West, look how Janet Jackson, an iconic music star was canceled for the SuperBowl, while Justin Timberlake just got bigger, when he was the one who caused the 'wardrobe malfunction.' it never mattered that Janet had more impact, more fans and more awards than he did.

My mom is still bitter that when young women loved The Beatles, they were called silly and shallow and hysterical, and The Beatles were called a worthless band made up of boys who looked like girls who couldn't attract "real" fans.  Then, in the late 60s, men caught on to the fact that they were pretty decent, and now super Beatles fanboys act like women are too dim to understand the depth of The Beatles' music.  The same thing happened with StarTrek, but that's another rant.

And I think you're completely right about the purity aspect of the male idol/female idol double standard.  I think it carries over into real life, too.  There are plenty of men who say they want a pure woman but don't think it's important for men to wait until marriage.  Make it make sense, guys, if women aren't allowed to sleep with anyone before marriage, but men are, who are the men sleeping with?

One of the double standard is BTS vs Music industry including Pop industry, Kpop industry

The biggest double standard i have faced is when i tell people that i like K-pop, they tell that they are fake because idols do plastic surgery, but they are ok whatching WWE while wrestler take Steroid to look big, they literally the same 😂

Can we please just let idols date? Being in a "relationship with your fans" does not provide the same kind of support and emotional fulfilment that romantic relationships provide.

As an aside, idols doing songs about love and relationships while not being allowed to love or be in a relationship is such a weird irony.

The dating double standards are so obvious cuz what do you mean that when a female idol dates a guy, she is publically shamed for it but when a male idol dates a girl, then that girl is the one who gets shamed for it as well.

Edit: I did not mean that male idols do not get dragged for dating scandals, ofc they do cuz the fandoms are extremely possessive and intense like that. But still their female counterparts get dragged a lot more. Riize, I feel like, is somewhat of a special case which can be explained more so with the double standards between more popular and less popular idols. Because Riize was a relatively new and less popular group, they had to face a shit ton of backlash for that incident. But let's say if the same thing were to happen to someone in BTS, where a photo was leaked of one of the members with a girl, the fandom would immediately find the girl and tear her down before even going for said member. I still remember how much hate IU got when JK said she was his crush. All that happened when she hadn't even ever interacted with him, I can't imagine how much worse it would have been if she had actually dated him.

Many of the biggest pop stars in the US came from the DISNEY studio machine  - Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato,  does ANYONE accuse them of being 'manufactured'? yet they had a trainee system, they were produced by others on their records, they were promoted through Disney shows and movies. It's literally the same as Kpop and it's been going on since the 1950s.

The 'teenage girls' fandom theory is so real because who was listening to one direction when they were active?! How about Justin Bieber?! Even now singers like billie eillish or Sabrina carpenter, tate McRae, charlie xcx and zara Larsson (both who have been active since the 2010s) all have and have been have a major audience of teenage girls.

I didn't even know you were going to talk about 1D and JB😂

I've only been into kpop a short while, but i have to say they blow me away in their talent. The hard work they do,  the practice,  how much they value the fans, and the music/performance overall. Kpop is amazing. Even if I'm not a fan of a kpop group, i still have respect for what they do.

I feel the same. I feel hybe groups get hate because they are under hybe.

Watching felix having small talks with dispatch noona during airport arrival actually made me forget that they were a gossip channel. He is polite and friendly to the point it feels like a fansign event. Maybe the american paparazis at skz metgala just left too big an impact that i find korean medias nicer

Guess what, guys! Western artists are also manufactured. Look at Ariana Grande, for example. She always has a different persona. And even though I'm not her fan, I don't blame her, because that's how artists make money. If she didn't change, she wouldn't have such a big fandom🤷🏻‍♀️

im not even a cortis fan but when one of the members shared an artist's song and artists said their music was trash... and kpop fans use that moment to hate on cortis? i honestly felt bad for them, like they shout you out, the best you can do is to just say thanks? 😭 the hate was so unnecessary

23:05  this one is definitely on k-netizens cause i saw i video about Jungkook just walking casually in paris and people were like "oh he has so much pride"

A double standard you didn't touch is bullying. If it happens at school, that's a problem and we're going to talk about it. If an idol gets bullied by toxic fans because of their weight (eg that girl from TWICE) or other superficial problems, that's ok because they need to be held accountable. The bullied become the bullies. Ironic.

Another double standard that I don't like is when western musicians "copy" each other for the MV it doesn't become a big deal but when this happens in kpop everyone throws hands

Yes, thank you for bringing up what happened with Jimin! He was literally a victim of stalking and revenge posting by that absolutely insane ex girlfriend of his (if you understand what was going on with that situation, you'll know her name), and HE was being called the bad guy.. even though he was factually the victim?? Like people were making excuses for that girl. And the "supposed" statement Hybe made about her and Jimin, explaining the situation without insulting her once - obviously Jimin wouldn't want to do anything that would be considered disrespectful to her, I believe it. Because that girl's behavior was giving off vengeful ex vibes.
