In this clip from My Expert Opinion Ep. #09, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon sit down with Math Hoffa and Uncle Seth to reflect on the raw energy of the early hip-hop days. Ghostface breaks down his mindset about battle rap, studying the “Gracie” mentality before stepping into lyrical combat — even recalling his sparring sessions with Method Man in the studio.
The conversation dives deep into the Wu-Tang Clan’s roots in cyphers, open mics, and street showcases — the true proving grounds before the fame. Rae and Ghost reminisce about Jack the Rapper conventions, running into Akineyle, and seeing Ol’ Dirty Bastard go toe-to-toe with Q-Tip in legendary freestyle sessions.
Ghostface even shares a rare memory of meeting Jay-Z early in his career while waiting in line for an EPMD or Das EFX show, sizing up MCs and checking who had real bars.
