Seriously... how they go from this to that sheet of BO7... how??

Imagine what the devs were thinking when they were slowly piecing together this story.
"Man, people are gonna shit their pants when they play this ." 😂😂😂

To be able to play this game for the first time again.....the genuine shock of seeing DC in flames. Gaming just isn't what it was before

Unsung horror about this part:

You are actively being encircled by the Russians during this. At the end when you get on the helicopter, the Russians have successfully completed the encirclement and taken everything east of the Potomac River

The Russians officially capture Washington D.C. for a brief time

This was call of duty, now look at how far they have fallen

I remember playing this mission as a teenager and had a mixed feeling of rage and sadness over the idea that not only was my country being invaded but the capitol was BURNING. A city i had never even been to. Fast forward to today and ive been in the army for 9 years with 4 deployments and i still get that feeling.

Notice how the tank doesn't fire until the player moves closer to the trench, these little vignettes are key to story telling and alot of games of this era had them sprinkled around, they wanted the player to not only witness war, but experience it.

Developers need to hire movie writer instead to make plots like these. BO7 is a prime example, 19 boss fights in like 5 hour is kinda insane. Clearly some Redditor in their writing room is too amazed by Dark Souls

I know its a video game but seeing DC in flames like this was enough to fill me with rage and drive me to tears. That's how you know MW2 is good.

I love how there's a few that just paused, looking at the Washington monument, in disbelief that something that iconic could be reduced to such a state, really showing the gravity of what this war has come to.

The Battle of Washington, D.C. was Call of Duty at its best.

When the writer and director actally wasn't replace by AI

We must take back Whisky Hotel

I do love in this mission that they wait to display the mission info until you exit the bunker.

"Who was I meant to be following?  I've lost them already."
Woman, there's literally a floating dot that says "Follow" XD How can you lose that?

The thing that makes “of their own accord” so scary is the radio chatter, sure it’s often drowned out by fighting and other sounds, but if you listen really closely you’ll be able to hear it, it often sounds like you stumbled onto something you weren’t meant to hear, and it often tells other stories about marines/rangers in situations just as dire as yours

The one I find most scary is the Washington monument evacuation site, you only hear it if you choose not to provide support for the Washington monument, i’m not gonna spoil anything, but I’ll give you a quick sample of what I find really scary..

“all call signs we got civilians taking up arms to defend the Evac site, but they are totally untrained, we’re on the verge of being overrun, we need help now!” This one is really heartbreaking because they had to find support from whatever was left. Imagine being one of those civilians you’re right there so close to safety only to be told you have to stay behind and help defend an evacuation site that you were never meant to be in in the first place it’s devastating, and this coming from a military that had to scrounge up whatever they had left you’re also not just losing you’re getting stomped and the radio chatter really supports that I suggest just typing in YouTube MW2 radio chatter and just take a listen I guarantee you won’t look at “of their own accord” the same way.

When I played this mission seeing DC burning, I almost cried.

Well written, story driven, emotional investment, large shocks that take advantage of preconceived notions, and a fast pace that doesn’t let you recover it simply forces you to grit your teeth and dive in making you even more emotionally invested, that’s what made this game, and games like it, great. At least in my opinion.

Such a damned good game

I easily consider exiting the bunker for first time one top ten moments in cod.

Man I really wished we stormed and took the fight to the Russians in mw3 but nah we didn’t get any of that.
