Why do we hold back when we know we’re capable of more?

Hypnotherapist and author Amy Koford joins Graeme Wood on Beyond the Couch to explore fear, limiting beliefs, self-sabotage and confidence ahead of her Hardwired to Rise presentation at the UK Hypnosis Convention.

Amy explains her distinction between fear that helps keep us safe and fear that limits our choices. We discuss the fear of failure, worrying about what others think, the belief that “I’m not good enough,” and why success itself can sometimes feel daunting.

Amy also shares how she approaches these patterns in hypnotherapy, what changed her own relationship with self-criticism, and practical ideas from her book Hardwired to Rise, including questions she uses to put stress into perspective.

In this conversation:
Why someone can feel stuck without recognising fear
How experiences can shape beliefs about ourselves
Hypnotherapy, emotional responses and reframing
Self-love, confidence and fear of success
Everyday ways to respond to stress

What fear or limiting belief would you most like to leave behind? Share your thoughts in the comments.
