The speaker still lacks a fundamental understanding of who the listener is. The entire premise is built on the assumption that even for him, money will solve the issue. A fact he should already know to be wrong but doesn’t.
It is also interesting how he says he loves the listener right before falling asleep. While he might even believe that himself, this entire situation was entirely selfish. Love is, at least to some extend, selfless. He was motivated by entirely selfish goals, which he might reflect on a bit but only to excuse making the decision to pursue them anyway.
