In April 1985, 27-year-old Linda Sherman vanished from her home in Vinita Park, Missouri, just outside St. Louis County. Her husband, Don Sherman, told police she’d walked out after an argument, but Linda’s family doesn’t believe she would never leave behind her 9-year-old daughter, Patty.
For five years, Linda remained missing. Then, in June 1990, a human skull appeared under a bush outside a Casa Gallardo restaurant in nearby Bridgeton, Missouri, and an anonymous letter sent to police would expose one of the most bizarre and chilling twists in Missouri true crime history.
Who placed Linda’s skull in public view? Did her husband’s dark past hold the key to her disappearance? And why, decades later, does no police department seem to claim responsibility for investigating her murder?
Join Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat as they uncover the secrets behind one of St. Louis County’s most haunting cold cases.
If you have information about the murder of Linda Sherman, call the North County Police Cooperative at (314) 428-7374, or submit a tip through St. Louis Regional Crime Stoppers.

I lived in the St. Louis area for many years, and the restaurant manager who found Linda's skull was- at one time- my next door neighbor. The Casa Gallardo restaurant he managed was located at 12380 St Charles Rock Rd, Bridgeton, MO 63044 (the building was torn down years after the incident and a CVS Pharmacy now stands on the site).
In late 2016, he and I talked at length about this case, and he shared many interesting details with me, among them:
1. Don Sherman- as you stated- was a regular at my neighbor's restaurant; my neighbor- as the restaurant manager- knew him well. He described Don Sherman a a "low life" and a "creeper", who used to hit on women left & right at the restaurant bar, many of whom complained to my neighbor on numerous occasions about Don's behavior & unwanted advances .
2. My neighbor told me that the area where he discovered Linda's skull was- contrary to most published accounts- not found "outside the restaurant in some bushes" but, rather, placed in a planter in an enclosed atrium area that was located inside the restaurant. This atrium area was accessed via a door inside the restaurant; although not usually locked, this door was in an out of the way area that was not easily visible or accessible to the general public. It was my neighbor's belief that a frequent restaurant regular- like Don Sherman- would have seen the contracted landscaper accessing the atrium from time to time and could have easily accessed that area himself when the restaurant staff was preoccupied to place the skull in there without being seen.
3. Finally, my neighbor told me that Don Sherman always took a handful of various Casa Gallardo flyers with him when leaving the restaurant bar, since he liked to hang out there, especially for happy hour. He told me (2016) that there was never any doubt in his mind that Don Sherman was involved in the disappearance & death of his wife.
What the F is wrong with these people?!!
If you are that negatively affected years and years later to the point you cannot even speak of it - YOU NEED A GD THERAPIST BECAUSE YOU ARE BEING PSYCHOTIC.
I just cannot fathom not telling the little girl - teenage girl - adolescent girl - young woman about who her mother was, and answering any questions she had.
It’s unbelievable to me that anyone can be that selfish, let alone A LOT of families!!!!
Like the one with all the native women missing!!
This one is even more psychotic, not letting her DAUGHTER come to her mother’s funeral?!!!!
Like - these people are monsters.
It blows my mind.
I feel so bad for the kids, jfc, what shit families as a whole.
I was lucky, I got out.....psychologically and emotionally abuse had also begun to get physical. I knew I had to get out. My 16 year old son was also at risk as I knew he wanted to thump his Dad when he heard the abuse, despite me trying to be as quiet as I could.
We disappeared when my ex husband was at work. My instinct was to face him and tell him I'd left, but my close friends told me not to, or at least they would stand with me. I phoned him as he finished work and our eldest son was at the house when he got home, so he wasn't alone.
The stress of an abusive marriage falling apart, caring for my mother and her dying, doing my degree, still working in renal nursing, keeping my youngest safe, all the while planning my escape in secret was enormous.
Leaving that marriage was probably the best thing I'd ever done for myself (except for having my kids) I'm so grateful I got out, and do mourn other women who didn't make ot out 😢
Wexford County Sheriffs Office and Michigan State Police confirmed her body to be found in the Manistee National Forest, in Boon Township.
Update her baby was not with her and is missing! Last news, her sister was arrested.
