First stage of this wonderful 4-day trek.
We begin in the town of Posada de Valdeón, arriving via an easy path and forest track at the village of Caín, the starting point of the Leonese section of the famous Cares Route.
We will hike several kilometers through this magnificent gorge until we connect with the Trea Canal, a trail that leads into the mountains to ascend to the Vega de Ario refuge, located high in the western massif. This 1500m elevation gain in just 6 kilometers will push the stage to its limits.
Arrival at the beautiful Vega de Ario refuge, where we can rest with privileged views of the western massif and part of the central massif.
Special thanks for this stage to the Vega de Ario refuge, the Cumbres de Valdeón hotel, and to Quique, our guide from Picos Trekking, and his wonderful group of experienced mountaineers. My own track, very dirty, track used for this journey https://es.wikiloc.com/rutas-senderis... from fellow hiker Inotbaena, my thanks to him as well.
