Thanks for watching! Apologies for my voice, I've got a cold atm! 😅😅

My favorite place in Ocarina of Time is the hidden cutout behind the boxes in the Lon Lon Ranch tower. There’s a heart piece, but more importantly, it seems so peaceful.

My favorite strange place in the game was always the bridge at the exit of Kokiri forest. Its technically part of the Lost Woods but it eerily queit. Saria gives you the fairy Ocarina there, but after that it's just empty.

The fixed angle of Dampé's hut reminds me of Resident Evil, and the music choice gives it a creepy but also kind of cozy vibe. There's definitely a feeling like you shouldn't be there, but I guess that comes with the territory of being in someone's home while they're away and reading their diary.

My favorite spot is this small forest on Hyrule Field. It's on the way towards Lake Hylia. I remember when I was a kid, I used to camp out there with Epona. I felt like I was really there, drinking lon lon milk and chillin in this forest.

9:43 I NEVER knew about this secret door in ganon’s castle :o

The view of Kakariko from Death Mountain is one of my favorite things too. I'd always go to the top of Death Mountain after Dodangos Cavern at night so that when you fly down there you get to see the lights.

The wolf grotto was a Rumble Pak add-on so I always assumed it was designed to be so surreal and temple-like to create a sense of achievement in players who found it. The Rumble Pak cost around $25 extra, which was a significant amount of money by 1998 standards for an optional piece of hardware. I won some money at a science fair and vividly remember spending it on a Rumble Pak so I could discover all the secrets (online guides were virtually non existent back then). It would vibrate in certain locations so you knew where to place a bomb and the wolf grotto was one of those places that felt immensely satisfying to discover!

The colourful cave with the Wolfos of course still exists in the 3DS remaster, where the developers decided to give the walls a crystal-like texture instead of rays of light, but still equally colourful.

The bridge between Kokiri and Hyrule field is a favorite of mine, something about the ambience that plays and watching those firefly things fly around is so magical

I believe that a lot of these strange locations are left overs from other ideas scrapped throughout development and probably different in beta builds. For example, there's an odd spot in Hyrule Field next to Hyrule Castle, where a river flows, there's some trees and a small island. In one of the leaked builds for this game we see that originally Link was supposed to sneak into Hyrule Castle through that area, or escape from it. Ocarina of Time is so fascinating because of how many changes it went through in development, I absolutely love studying the beta of this game and theorizing on what was cut in odd locations in the game.

Under the boulder by the windmill is a grotto with 200 rupees. Iirc you have to play the song of storms to open it. Best regards. 2:24

6:02 entering these types of places with the Inside Deku Tree theme give me an unexplainable feeling

When OoT came out, I had this idea that there was so much more to explore if you could just find a way to get in an area you had no access to. The castle for example, you'll see Ganondorf bowing in front of the King in the throne room. So little me is thinking that the King is right there in that room I can't get to. In reality it's nothing, there's nothing there.

One for me is the forest surrounding Kakariko Graveyard.  It’s just texture, but there was always something about it to me.

I really like the fixed camera angle in the shack, and the clear sign that the devs were still figuring out how to convey things in 3D. In a compact space why not use a fixed camera rather than have the free cam collide with and fight with the walls. I sincerely wish more games still allowed themselves this amount of experimentation, and played with the abstractions of the medium to see what mode of expression works best moment to moment

The Gerudo Heart Piece was moved to a chest that is available in the adult era. If you open it as a child, it is a placeholder item from the adult trading sequence that is found nornally in another spot.

Hyrule Field has many of these special little places too! Like the northwest side of the field being entirely optional, with trees, a riverbank, a grotto and more! It's always been such a neat little place!

To me, one of the more unusual places was the 'secret' floor in the Fire Temple, which required using the scarecrow to hookshot to it in order to reach it. One could finish the Fire Temple without ever setting foot in that floor, which always made me wonder if it once had a different purpose.

An underrated spot is the back alleys in Castle Town. I always knew about the Bombchu shop and Doggy Lady's house, but I never explored further until many years later. The slightly muted music is very relaxing, but finding the dying guard blew my mind and actually freaked me out!
