soon - we'll be going over 10 things we HATE about this game.

Earlier today, I read an interpretation of the reversal that really stuck with me.

When all three components of the Triforce are brought together, they can grant a wish. Someone suggested that with Link standing in for Courage, Sonia being Wisdom, and Rauru being Power, they functionally replicated the Triforce to grant their collective wish: bring Zelda back.

I like that Zelda was rewarded for sacrificing her humanity and not knowing she could be brought back.  That was why it worked for me.

Best ending to a Zelda EVER.

Zelda’s sacrifice was living for over 10,000 years as a dragon

A few things I want to say, first for the memories, on the wall in the forgotten temple it actually shows you the order of the memories to get them in. Secondly, I love Zelda being turned back into a human and Link having to catch her because he failed to catch her at the beginning of the game. Also if Zelda stayed a dragon I don't think my heart could take it, especially after how Twilight Princess ended

The ending makes perfect sense, actually. Throughout every game, they have always had the "triforce"... Zelda representing Wisdom, Ganon representing strength, and Link representing courage. In order to return Zelda to her previous state, they needed those three powers...

I adore this game so much.

I think the ending actually is good because it makes complete sense when you think about it. Remember in the memory where Ganon sends a bunch of Moldugas to attack Hyrule? well Zelda and Sonia combined their powers to make Rauru's power of light more powerful. Now look at the end of the game. Link has Zelda's power as a power in his arm, which means it can be strengthened with Sonia and Rauru's powers, reversing the draconification all the way back to when Zelda still had the stone on her necklace, and since we regained all the memories, Zelda was able to remember everything from the past even though she forgot it all when she became the dragon, so it does make sense, and canonically it probably has to happen, but it would have been a cool twist to not turn her back, like the fact that Zelda isn't holding off Ganon like every other game, and is instead in the past and is the reason you have the Master Sword, but still.

People really thought they wouldn't undo it? Have they ever left Zelda hanging at the end of any Zelda game? They pretty much all have a happy ending

No other game can do what this game did.  10/10

10/10 game for me. Everything was perfect for me

Rauru is the King descendant of Gods with amplifying stones of power. That’s pretty much all the explanation you need for where his strength comes from.

From the moment I realized where the story was going, I couldn’t imagine them leaving her a dragon. It would feel like a massive failure to me in so many ways, I could not be happier with where the story ended. I’m sorry that it wasn’t the same for you but I’m glad you enjoyed the game.

When I was going through the game I was also hoping they wouldn't change her back from a dragon, but the emotional payoff of the dive after her & the gratitude and disbelief of "you did it, you really did it" justified it for me

The way I interpret the ending is that Rauru and Sonia didn't want to leave Zelda live with a life changing decision like that. They just wanted her to live her life when it was unfair that she could never see Link or her friends again if they didn't help her

Zelda creates an emotionally catharsis… sadness, happiness, anger, relief, everything combined. That’s why most of people cry at the end.

the game set up the "Zelda is Saved and Un-Dragoned" through the memory cutscenes.
We learn the mechanics of Rewind. We learn that Sonia holds the time power of Rewind and Rauru has Light, and that Zelda holds both and together it is a tremendous power. Link hold's Rauru's power through having his arm, and he has Sonia's power through the Secret Stone he has on the back of his hand.
Not to mention even without the cutscenes it still narratively fits, as the ending dive for Zelda mirrors the same thing from the start of the game. Link failed to reach her, he failed to protect her. He would not fail again. He would find he, save her, and bring her home. These 2 have been to hell and back more than any other Link/Zelda pair in the series thus far, and have deserved to have their happy ending.

You two are literally the only people I've seen/heard who were disappointed that the draconification was reversed...

You couldn't seriously believe they would eternally curse the titular protagonist and just, let it be that way ? :p

They went so hard on the suffering and the sacrifice of Zelda that it would have been a little ridiculous had they not brought her back. There was so much of the crying dragon that they would have been leaning too much on the sadness and it would have seemed overdone. I definitely don't think that it's cheap to have brought her back, if anything the cheap element was the repeated suggesting that it couldn't be undone
