Follow up: I think that, as you said in the video, lots of brands have stopped making 650b tires which has forced lots of people to stock up on tires or compromise on their tire choices. I also find that lots of brands only offer their lower end tires(this is partly true with wheels as well) at 650b which could contribute to sales.
