I saw an article that said the guy said it was the greatest moment of his life

I saw a Tool show where someone threw a water bottle that hit Maynard. He stopped singing for a moment while the band kept playing, picked up the water bottle, nodded towards the crowd, then drank it and went back to singing. Early Tool was wild

The "fan" was the founder of the Tool Army 😏😏

Maynard was an airborne ranger. Maynard studies Brazilian jujitsu. Likely it happened just like that.  The best moment of rock irony was probably Woodstock , when Pete Townsend didn’t know who abbey Hoffman, abbey was encroaching on the stage , Pete knocked him out with his guitar.

The moment he tackles the guy and keeps singing is pure flow state in 2 arts.. so awsome.  Never saw this before but didn't surprise me.  Maynard always seems to be just completely in the music and primal when he sings

You asked about Maynard’s stage dress.  He did a lot of strange things, from painting himself entirely blue, to having a woman’s bra on and a wig.  In the early days he often talked about feeling very awkward on stage and not knowing what to do. As you were saying his dress was probably a reflection of this. .  This is why after a while he moved to the background and out of the spotlight staying pretty much the whole concert back there.

I'm so happy you did this one!  I love how Maynard doesn't miss a beat while taking the dude down!  Love your channel !

Maynard just has a unique sense of humor. It really shows in a lot of the puscifer content. Skits and sketches and such. He funny in a unique way for sure

I’ve seen Tool over the years… first, every live show by TOOL is phenomenal and second, their light guy is a master of his craft!

Maynard's poise and balance are not human

he's big into martial arts, so that's how he can get so low to the ground.

You may not be aware, but Maynard has a black belt in BJJ now.  I don't know if he was into it then or not, but the hip toss followed by back control makes me think that he was.  🤣

Maynard was a wrestler in high school. His dad was the wrestling coach if I’m not mistaken. That’s what steered him into BJJ. He has his own BJJ Dojo in Jerome Arizona.

The end of the song is absolutely epic!  Maynard straddling the fan screaming “remember that I’ll always love you, as I claw your fucking throat away” into the guys ear

Dope reaction! Maynard didn't need any bodyguards, he was the bodyguard. This was not staged. There are interviews with Maynard talking about that incident, in fact one was with Joe Rogan. He said that he didn't know what this guy's intentions were, so he took him down. Maynard is primarily known for his lifelong dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). He began training in the mid-1990s under Rickson Gracie's lineage and officially earned his black belt in January 2024. Keenan's martial arts background features wrestling. He wrestled in high school and often cites lessons learned from his father, who was his coach. He has also incorporated Muay Thai into his training regimen. He co-founded his own training academy in Cottonwood, Arizona, where he frequently trains and hosts practitioners. Maynard's years of martial arts training and conditioning has allowed him to perform these seemingly impossible maneuvers (rising up on his heels, etc.). Thanks, and peace!

As for his outfits,  i like the juxtaposition of a seemingly crazy, unkept person with a hauntingly beautiful voice that does not match what you're looking at.  Like an old sleeper car with a hemi inside.

"I am somewhere I don't wanna be,
Push me somewhere I don't wanna be
You put me somewhere I don't wanna be
Seeing someplace I don't wanna see
Never wanna see that place again"

Maynard always moving like an alien just took over his body and is trying to navigate movement 😂

To be fair that fan has the all time best story. 🤘

Love this clip. My favorite part is the reaction of the rest of the band, they don't even blink like" Oh let Maynard have his fun. That and the fact that he never misses a single note.
