Where you live in Japan matters more than whether you move to Japan.

This is Kyushu, the southern island. Eight places, and they are not the same. Fukuoka feels like Tokyo for less money. Okinawa has the best sea in the country and the lowest income. Miyazaki has the waves and almost no jobs.

I'm Japanese, born and raised in Tokyo. I spent six months traveling around Japan and six months across twenty-five countries. Then I moved to Fukuoka instead of going back.
