My £1,850 Copart MG ZS EV is running and driving again, but there’s still a rather large job between it and a finished repair: replacing the deployed airbags, seatbelts and dashboard.

In this episode I strip out the interior, tackle the airbag system and discover that parts from a newer facelift ZS EV aren’t quite as interchangeable as they look. There’s some creative dashboard repair, a stubborn warning light and one embarrassingly simple fault along the way.

I watch these videos for training in how to remain calm during highly frustrating situations, your patience is highly impressive mate. Most of us would have been surrounded by bits of broken plastic halfway through the work.

You're about the only YouTuber who does what I do with a restoration / repair, clean up the working area first. I've no idea why all the others crawl around the cabin in piles of dirt and then hoover it all out later when they put the interior back in.

Looks great. Really quite impressed with how easy these MG’s are to work on. I fixed a Cat C dacia duster on my drive a few years ago. That was simple to work on too. Put over 100k on it before selling it on. I’d certainly be interested in this if you do decide to sell for my Mrs and school runs

What a lot of work, have you tried air bag services.
Rob at Salvage Rebuilds swears by them.

I work on smart cars on my channel and I find exactly the same thing. New parts are cheaper than 2nd hand eBay parts. Resetting seatbelts is more expensive than buying new ones. People just don't check as they assume that dealer prices are going to be expensive. It's always worth checking.

1 thing worth noting is that the deep wave hot staples should run along the crack.The shallow wave hot staples run across the crack.

For calibration you likely will need SIPS.. The full process is documented somewhere on the mgevs forum. I have seen this being done on an MG4 which had a failed DIY software update (4 bricked ecus). So they all needed to be flashed as a replacement and required calibration. The calibration needs to actively triggered and you also have to drive with the laptop connected running SIPS.

Hats off to you Jez, when i took the dash out of your old truck when i did the matrix i ended up with a hand full of bolts and screws😮 and not a clue where they came from😅
